Hydrolic lifter going, easier to replace or is there another model of adj tappet head I can put on from another year/model... I have a 1988 Volkswagon Fox 1.8 litre 4spd with 180,000 orig kms compression...

Unfortunately the only true way to fix this is to replace the lifters. Fortunately though, they are not that expensive. You may want to try changing your oil first and using synthetic. Sometimes this helps to free up stuck lifters and reduce the noise.

Where is the cooling fan relay located?

There is a big black box, above the radiaotor fan, under the panel called the "Integrated Control Relay Module" or "ICRM" the cooling fan relay is inside that box, you cant take it apart, if the relay is bad, you will need to replace the whole box, the dealer will need the number off your old one to get the correct part.

A/c cooling fan for my 88 mr2 non turbo wont turn

Sounds like the condensor fan relay is "sticking" - you are sure this is the condensor fan, and not the radiator cooling fan? As electric radiator cooling fans often run after the car is turned off - this is normal - If you are sure it is the condensor fan and it is on with the AC off - Id bet it was the relay responsible (versus the AC control unit) - Locate and remove the relay - if you have a comparable one you can substitue (Make 100% sure it uses the same plug and wiring schematic) and try that - if it now works properly you can try to locate one at your parts store....Hope that helps some....DD

Have a 2002 cavalier Z24 and the cooling fan will not go on. Have a hard code on the engine saying Cooling Fan 1 Control Circuit. checked all the fuses and the relay, all are fine. what might the problem...

there are two coolant temp sensors on this car one controls the fans and one controls the temp guage in the car. one is located near the thermostat housing and the other is usually located in the block. the one near the thermostat housing usually controls the fans. also try to jumper the fan and make sure the fan is working.

Clicking/ticking noise under the hood?

It's called a lifter. It is not serious. Keeping your car under good maintenance should keep the noise down but you will always hear it until you get the lifters replaced. Or that is what i was told. I have had my 1988 Fox for ten years now and it has always made that noise. Don't worry. :)

I had that problem, fuel pump relay, after driving 10 minutes or more .Check to see how hot your fuel pump relay is. It is located in your fuse block. Under dash left side. 2 large relays in centre, 2 small outer, it is the large one on the right. after driving touch it and if it burns the tip of your finger, mine did i replaced it and now it starts every time.
