Could be loose caliper (unlikely but worth checking), bad pads (had them fall apart on me before when brand new), improper line bleeding (air bubbles in brake line), dirt on the rotor (brake cleaner will fix that. Remove tire and caliper, thoroughly spray down rotor, caliper and pads, let it completely dry and put back together). If none of those are the problem you may want to take it in for a brake system check, many places do that for free or cheap.

What's the break bleeding sequence for a 2006 scion xb? I was told left front, rear right, right front, left rear, like a cross pattern. Is this true?


I believe the bleeding pattern for any vehicle is furthest from the master cylinder first and so on the xb it would be rear pass 1st, rear driver 2nd, front pass. 3rd, and front driver last.

1st-- squeaks-- when the breaks where replaced where the anti-radile clips put back in, if so dose squeak rear or front

if rear check spring kits

2nd-- jerks-- this could be drive train question dose ur engine seem to rev at all wen this is happening


try this

goto an area where this is safe

driving at normal speeds put the shifter in neutral (this will NOT hurt it if you follow wat i say)
now apply the brakes dose it **** if so problem is in breaks is not get ur trans looked at

I have a 98 dodge durango 4wheel drive 5.2 v8.. breaks are getting hot and wearing out the rear pads. rear have drum front have disk. all 4wheels are getting hot. new everything all the way around.pads,...


check the abs fuse to see if it as blown they system may just be putting more pressure on different parts at differnt times because it is not getting proper control, also if the breaks are new you might consider using a dab of break cement on the back side of the pads and shoes to allow for proper release from the drums/rotors.

How to retract rear brake shoes on a 2002 malibu


If you mean youre changing the pads on your malibu and it has rear disc breaks you can use a C Clamp to slowly squeeze the piston back in the caliper. I normally keep one of the old pads on the piston and use a quick clamp that has a squeeze handle to push the piston back in. This will give you room to put the new pads on.

Rear disc brakes drag after installing new pads


Just did my rear brakes this weekend, Monday had a very slight drag. Noted that when I installed new pads I had to tap them on. That shouldn't be. When brakes are released, there should be enough play to allow the pads to back off the disc. Tonight, I removed the pads and filed down the ends of the tips that go into the top and bottom channels until I could install and remove them with fingertips, that gives them enough play to grab and release. Drag disappeared; the old girl ran like she should.

I need to change my rear break pads and also my emergency brake will not dissengage once put on. How do i fix both?


My hyundai had the emergency brake bracket (mounted to the back of the caliper) rust solid. I used rust eater to get it to slightly break loose. I eventually had to replace both calipers. It is a very consistant problem. My new ones need alot of attention now as well I covered them in caliper paint to help with the rusting. The pads are very simple replacement 2 bolts on the back of the caliper. Remove the pads then screw back in the piston with a import tool from any auto parts store put pads back in, put back on the caliper.

Back breaks are popping like they are locking up on my 2005 titan. Put new pads on it to see if that would help but it has made it worse.


remove the calipers and rotors. check your e-brake shoes inside the rotors. also check your axle seals, if they are leaking. make sure, that no gear lube is present. If all is dry, than check the breather valve which is installed into the r/h axle tube on top. make sure, that it is free and spinning, because that's how the rear seals in titans blow out. The breather gets stuck and rear end doesn't breathe and youe axle seals will blow out and all other seals in rear end. common problem w/breather getting stuck.anyhow, check your e-brake shoes, they may have fallen apart.
