Re: Volo 2000 S80
The fuse/relay board is called the REM (Rear Electrical Module). It's common for these to shut down due to a software glitch, if the trunk won't open, this may be the cause. You can pull the fuse in the front fusebox in the left front of the dashboard. It's the fuse labeled (REM). If this fixes the problem, there is a software upgrade that will prevent this in the future.
Also, check that your vehicle is not in "Valet" mode. You will need to check your owners manual to learn more about this.
Check in the load area fuse/relay board you will have a micro relay which controls the fuel flap unlock circuit. the board is on your left behind the paneling, cant remember off hand which micro relay it is but i can let you know if you cant find it
a 6ya Mechanic can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

I had a similar problem w
recently bought 2003 S80.Several points: 1) Access your locking selonoid
through the trunk interior panel ... loosen a few hex bolts and slide
out for maintenance; 2) I fixed my lock by simply using light
teflon-based oil (like for bike chains). I exercised it a few times and
it works beautifully; 3) Not sure on your model, but gas door on the '03
unlocks when you push the associated release button under the headlight
control switch. It is not designed to unlock w the key (again, check
owners manual for your year). Hope this helps.
master_pre08-04-2007, 09:35 AMYeah,
the fuel door on my 2000 S80 is connected with the door locks. In order
for it to open you have to unlock all the doors to the car.

I removed the locking mechanism and applied a little silicon graphite
and now it works like a charm.
Is the remote control for the locks just not working? If the doors are unlocked, the trunk and cas tank cover should be unlocked as well. I have a slightly later model, but that's how it works with mine. Are you saying that you can manually open the doors with the key, but when you do, it doesn't unlock the gas door like normal? If so ,there's a manual pull tab in the trunk to open the gas tank flap on the same side of the trunk as the gas tank flap. After it's open, you can of course close the gas lid flap again, but it won't lock again if the auto-locking system isn't working. You'll have to get the dealer to replace the motor if it's gone out. This should get you in the gas tank for now though. Good luck!
Do the doors unlock when you shut the key off? Also unhook the purple wire to the sending unit in the tank, Gauge should read empty. Ground the purple wire, it should read past full. If it works this way, replace the sending unit in the tank.
If the fuel gauge drops off when you are driving then its a sending unit problem that means you have to drop the tank and replace the float and sending unit. This is a common problem for alot of cars because of cheap gas. If you have to drop the tank check the fuel pump canster for dirt because of cheap gas. Replace the fuel pump strainer and fuel pump filter. If the car or truck has about 100,000 miles you might want to change the fuel pump at that time also just to cover your back. If you take it to a shop they will charge you at least $900 to start. But if you do it yourself it will cost you about $200 dollars maybe alittle more.
