SOURCE: Antifeeze leak on my 2000 VW Beetle Turbo

Most likely a leaky gasket. The water pump is a likely candidate, but also could be from a bad radiator hose/thermostat connection. Would suggest washing down the engine with a hose connected to the hot water. While the engine is cold use the hose to wash off the oil & grease deposits and old antifreeze. Allow the engine to dry without running the car. Once dry start the car and be prepared to look for the first sign of a leak. Sounds like a dealer issue since there is very little work clearence between the front of the engine and the car body. Barely enough room to be able to change the serpentine belt.

My 1999 dodge caravan is still overheating. I have already replaced the thermostat and the water pump, also there is no heat. please help me someone!

Hi there.
Well you can either have a problem with either radiator outer {dust/dirt in outer core of radiator or clogged up inside were water goes, or soft hoses, blowen head gasket plus a few others ,but first go to garage to were you blow up your tyres and use the air hose and blow out the radiator core where the air goes in, 2 drain out radiator water and then refill with water at 1 ltr at a time and then check your info car book and find how much water the radiator takes ,if it dosent take all the ltrs then the radiator is blocked inside.
if engine runs rough missing etc then get your Head gasket checked out.
When you say no heat is that with heat on gauge or no heat from heater, as it could be heater blockage same as radiator core. So let me know how you get on.

Antifreeze leaking near water pump

Best way and safe to check coolant leak. Use or you can rent one from
auto part store. "Radiator pump presure tester"
Let the engine cold down and hook it to radiator filler neck make sure it's good tight then pum untill you feel some presure, then it time to check for leak. You'll be able to see water comes out.

97Z71 leaking antifreeze

I would check the heater core. You can rent a pressure tester from the auto
parts store and put a piece of cardboard under the vehicle, then pressurize
the system to the pressure on the cap. Come back in an hour or so and look
at the cardboard. (if your heater core is leaking it will come out through the
air conditioner drain on the passenger side.) This method will identify where the fluid
is coming from in terms of area on the vehicle. You may want to pressure wash the
engine a day before to make things more visible.

Also check to be sure that the
overflow tank hose is connected to the radiator, these can come off and allow
the radiator fluid to escape the vehicle instead of being transferred back and
forth between the radiator and overflow tank as mine did. I didn't even notice as it
had fallen down behind the battery.
Hope this helps.

1991 Cadillac Fleetwood. The heater was working on passenger side but not that warm. Added antifreeze. Seems to be leaking it. Keep adding. gone thru 2 gallons. How do i get heat.

If you've added two gallons of antifreeze, you need to find out where it's going. Make sure the antifreeze you are adding is diluted with water in a 50/50 solution. Pure antifreeze has little freeze protection and boils quickly. If there is no visible leak, check your oil for coolant contamination. Fill the radiator and leave the radiator cap off. Put the heater controls on hottest setting, but do not turn the heater on. Start the engine and watch the coolant. If the coolant level drops, add more to full. If the coolant is flowing thru the radiator when you first start the engine, the thermostat is stuck open and needs to be replaced. If the water is not flowing, then keep an eye on it and wait for the thermostat to open. Add antifreeze to keep the radiator full. Look for air bubbles or lots of foaming in the coolant. That would indicate a blown head gasket and the reason you are losing antifreeze. If there's no bubbles, and the coolant level stays full, put the radiator cap back on and see if the heater is working better.

There is a light in the dashboard that says "check" with the shape of a little water tap. I don't know what it means.

With the engine cool, Check coolant level, or may be overheating. If coolant is low or severely low, fill it, keep cap off and start engine, allow it to run and continue to add antifreeze until level of coolant stops going down and replace cap. Fill the expansion (overfill) tank to the full cold level. Allow engine to reach operating temperature while observing the engine, radiator, and hoses for leak and look under car for drips. Also check for wet carpet inside at the front, usually on the passenger side (not sure exactly where heater core is in your Kia), so also check the drivers side. This will indicate a defective heater core, if the leak is bad. If the leak is only minor in a heater core you will notice a sweet smell inside and/or windows will steam up when you run the defrost. Also, if coolant is low check radiator cap, If you don't have to push down with slight-medium force to turn and remove it, it may be leaking there.
Hope this helps.

I have a 2005 toyota camry.Leaking antifreeze on drivers left hand side. Mechanics took apart dash did presure tests etc. and can't find leak? Any suggestions?

The only antifreeze that goes into your car is two hoses (one in, one out of firewall, behind engine) that connect to what looks like a mini radiator. This is called the heater core. Usually this leaks to the passenger side, however it simply has to be your heater core leaking. Tell them to connect those two hoses together instead of running them into fire wall, and if the problem stops, which it will, to replace the heater core. How big is the leak by the way?

Anti freeze all over the place

it could be antifreeze that was on the frame after changing the radiator the best way to tell is run car through a car that has the bottom wash or in a self wash and on... rinse... spray the area around radiator ...then check again later for antifreeze on ground

will pepper swtop a radiator leak
Improvement done by sickofjunk
There are radiator sealants available at many auto parts stores. I personally have never been able to get them to work though another good way to seal a leak if it is on the aluminum part of the radiator is to soder it with silver soder. And no i don't think pepper will stop a radiator leak.
