SOURCE: Do I use a 12v

the less amps you can use and the more time you have the better. If you can charge it on 4 amps all day, thats better than say 20amps for a few hours

96 gmc sierra 5.7 starter battery good. Starter clicks but won't catch. The starter has been operating slowly but usually the engine caught. Starts with a jump but the starter sounds like a 6 volt...

  • Check your starter with a multimeter for 12v reading
  • Check quality of Power cords, spark plugs cables, choke.
  • Check whether the drive belt or starter belt is loose.
  • Switched ON A\c can cause this due to a faulty stuck compressor!!

Could it jump start a 6 volt battery car?

It is not a good idea to connect 12v to a 6v system. It can short out the ignition system, generator, and any electronics that are energized. It is best to use a 6v charger.

Hello, I have a 1987 Jeep Wrangler (Sahara) and the jeep will not start. I have taken the battery to an auto parts store and they have indicated that the battery is still good. They advised me to jump...

First, you cannot accurately determine a battery's condition unless it is fully charged, otherwise all test results will be incorrect.
If the battery was in good enough condition to pass testing without a re-charge then it should turn the starter though. You need to check all connections and determine where the power stops. Make sure to verify that the grounds are also good. Begin by testing to make sure or verify that power is getting to the starter (use a volt meter) You should have 12v at the large terminal on the starter and 12v at the small lead next to it when the key is turned to the start position. If you get that, the starter is bad.If you don't, then you need to check the starter relay, neutral safety switch and main fuses in the power distribution center. Ignition switches can fail but not too often. I'd also check to make sure you can turn the engine by hand (with key off) just to make sure it has not locked up.

Car wont start, acts like battery is dead. battery shows full charge. full lights, buzzers, etc. put it on charger-didnt start...cleaned cable connections-didnt start...tried to jump with truck-didnt...

Check the battery +12v power connection to the starter is in good order,
Check the ground connection between the battery negative and the engine/starter motor is robust and intact.
If no problem with above, replace the starter motor.

My 600amp jump pack needle hasn't been charged in a while

Have a look at one like yours in store & see what specs are on plug in to charge. It will say Output voltage ..., then how many amps, or milli-amps, for example: ( output voltage 13.5 VDC @ 800ma.) Now find a charger/adapter, with same specs, and plug. Perhaps one your using is very minimal output, or lower voltage. Be sure polarity symbol is same on both too.

Wont start

Is starter engaging but is turning the engine slowly then not turning engine? (that's what I'm reading) If so, check both connections at the block and starter. If reading proper voltage 12v or better, check voltage across battery when in "start" if it drops below 9.5v the starter has failed. (you can turn the engine by hand...correct?)
