The 2005 Spectra heating system comprises 4 main components and its associated wiring.

1. Blower Relay- supplies power to the blower motor when the key is in the on position

2. Blower motor- Located in the right side dashboard area near the passengers right foot. ( photo attached)

3. Resistor- located on the ground side of the circuit to control speeds 1 thru 3. Note" High speed bypasses this component.

4. A/C Control Module- This is the control pad in the dashboard with the blower speed controls.

The easiest way to diagnose this circuit is to split the circuit in half to determine if you have a power supply problem, ground control problem or a failed component. From your concern I am going to assume that none of the speeds work. If some of the speeds work let me know which ones and I will revise the diagnosis tree I made for you.

Key state for all tests is Key on/Engine off. Heater on and blower setting between 1 and 4.

Step 1. Verify the 30Amp blower fuse in the underhood fuse box has power and is not "Blown.

Step 2. Locate the blower motor by removing the lower kick panel on the passenger side dashboard and glove box. You will need a Phillips head screwdriver.

Step 3. Disconnect the two pin connector at the blower Connector G-02 in the attached photo. The red and blue wire is the power supply wire to the motor so with the key on/engine off check for power with a test light or volt meter. Spec: Battery Voltage. If good proceed to step 4. If no power proceed to step

Step 3.a.- the blower relay above the blower (connector G-06) and verify you have power leaving the relay. This is the red and blue wire ( Pin 4) I attached a photo of the connector to help locate the correct wire. If you have power at this pin the relay is working and you have an open between the relay and the blower motor. If you do not have power at this pin proceed to step 3.b. Verify that the relay clicks when you disconnect it from the harness and plug it back in. If it "clicks" and you have no power at pin 4 you have a bad relay. If it does not click you will need to check the power supplies to the relay. These are pins 3 (blue wire) and Pin 5 (Red wire). Be careful to check the correct blue wire as the other blue is the ground for the relay. (Pin 1). If you do not have power at either wire you have an open in the harness and further diagnosis will be needed. If you do have power at these wires then check the remaining blue wire for a ground. If you do not have a ground you may have a bad control module. To check this remove the plastic cover around the control head and radio and remove the control head from its mounting but leave plugged in to the harness. Check the white and blue wire in pin 21 of the large connector. It is located 3 pins in from the bottom left of the connector. (See attached photo). If you do not have a ground then you have a bad control module. To verify this you can ground this wire with a test light or fused wire and see if the relay "Clicks". If you do have a ground at this pin then you have an open between the relay and control head.

Step 4. - Ground check- Go to the blower motor connector and check the green and red ground wire (Pin 2) for a ground with the blower switch set to 4. This bypasses the resistor easing diagnosis. If you have a ground then the blower motor is at fault. If you do not have a ground proceed to step 5.

Step 5. Access the control head large connector. Leaving it plugged into the control head check pin 23 (Yellow black wire in the lower left corner of the connector) and verify you have a ground. If you do not have a ground you have a faulty control module. did you check the switch to the control cluster ? incase you dont know what im talkin about the switch that turns it on and off and adjusts speed? if its not that then do you have a blown fuse becouse the blower moter has an independant fuse some times in the fuse box there may be 2 1 in the car and the other under the hood try that let me know if its fixed

The blower is only secured to the housing by a few screws and drops out when the screws are removed.

SOURCE: where is the blower motor resistor on the kia

On the passenger side, up under the dash. I removed the glove box but not so sure that was necessary but better to do and not have to then to struggle unnecessary. The blower is above where a passengers right foot is and there is a black air chamber close to the fire wall. The resister is screwed into this about where the passenger's left foot would be. It is difficult to see because there is a small black piece of molded plastic hanging down to protect that no one accidentally kicks it hanging in front of it from your line of vision. A short stubby screwdriver is good for this as a long handled driver may **** up against the floor board and not give you the right angle to take the screws out.

02 kia spectra fan/blower not working, all fuses relays good but no power to either? ??


No power to heater blower fuse? this isn't separately fused to my knowing ,if there wasn't any power to this fuse other devices wouldn't work as well , as fuse under hood supplies power to many things , what ive found many many times to satisfy this complaint is that yes there is power to underdash fan , but its rusted up and cant turn , rust occurs when ac drain backs up and water has nowhere to run ,except to motor , then rust starts !!

Replace blower motor


It's under the passenger side of the dash. Before you replace it. Run 12 volts to the red wire and ground the black. If it comes on full force. Replace the resistor, located right next to it. Blowers do die, but not nearly as much as the resistors do. Resistors are what control the speed of the blower.

CHECK. EVERYTHING HOOK UP SEE IF YOU HAVE POWER AND BOTH SIDE IT THE HEATER MOTOR WITH IT PUGGED IN . IF SO YOU HAVE A MISSING GROUND THE GROUND CONTROL THE SPEED I THINK A BURNED WIRE

Is there a blower motor relay or fuse on a 1995 Mazda Protege lx?


That fuse sounds like it powers the ac compressor.
The blower motor usually takes a 30 amp fuse.
Does the blower motor work if you hook it to direct voltage ?

Replaced blower motor in my 2001 kia sportage ex, fan only works on high. Any suggestions?


It could be the blower motor resistor, the high position feeds full 12 volt power directly to the blower motor. All lower settings route through the blower motor resistor. It is usually located under the passenger side dash, not far from the blower motor. Two screws secure it to the heater box.

2002 jeep liberty , heater blower resistor i know was going bad , cause it only worked on setting 4 , but now its not working at all , its not blowing out period . so could it still be the heater blower...


maybe check the heater fan motor by hooking it direct to power and if it blows full power then it has to be the resistor or maybe the switch for the speed control is burned up.

AC Blower motor died


This is more than likely just the resistor as a bad motor wouldn't start at all,And low refrigerant(Freon) has nothing to do with the blower.

I had a truck about the same year with the same problem, it was the wiring harness, but id check the resistor and the fan first before replacing anythings,
