Question about 1999 Dodge Ram

1 Answer

Brights not turning off and dims not coming on all the way

The brights are on and will not shut off. The drivers side dim light comes on but not the other. The indicator on the dash also just goes dim when you try to go to dims. I have replaced the multi function switch and the quad high beam relay.

My 1999 1500 headlights are very dim. My brights are as bright as standard lights should be. What does this mean

1, Find the negative ground connection. clean it and reattach.

2. Headlights don't blow out like home lightbulbs, they start to die, they start to get dim. If yu are working with a two bulb system (one only comes on when you put high beams on) possibly the regular bulb is dimming because it is being used most.

3 try cleaning the globe to the headlight. Check to see if out of adustment. park car about 10-12 feet away form a blank wall. Turn lights on dim. Check to see if the "spot" created by the light is equal on both side. Older cars can lose their headlight "reach" making the bulb APPEAR to be dim when really, they need to be adusted.
it is very easy to adjust headlights.

With no further info, that's the best I can offer.

Only brights work, dimly lit headlamps, no fog lamps

Recheck the bulb number. This happens when the wrong bulb number is installed. Otherwise it could be a bad headlight ground.

Dims don't work but brights do.

I believe that all of the Functions Listed above are on the Same Handle. There is a Half Moon Circuit and Switch that Goes around the Steering Shaft inside the Steering Column for this Handle. This is Malfunctioning and will need to be Replaced. Not an Easy Job. You will need to Pull the Sterring Wheel and go from their. Please Rate My Response! Thanks!
