Question about 1988 Ford Taurus
When I turn on defrost or even the ac I get smoke that comes out of vents. It smells like rubber burning. I believe I need to replace the heater coil. Need assistance with this issue. If I am correct how difficult is it to replace myself
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

SOURCE: AC/BLOWS FROM DEFROST VENT ONLY
I'll tell you the easy fix I did. tapped on the vaccuum pump (that is for the ac system only-located on the right side of engine a little behind the battery on my 99 f350 diesel PU). Started blowing the right way. Been working ever since....Saw this idea on another web site...

I had the same problem in my 98 Dodge Dakota! Replaced the heater core, problem solved. No more funky coolant smell and erie fog coming through my vents. I bought the heater core at rockauto.com online. Have purchased many items now from them. All factory parts so far at half the price of even AutoZone, even with the shipping. Also, you usually have to wait only a couple of days depending on the part and they have EVERYTHING.
