I have a 0340 code for my cam shaft

Well code 340 means the cam sensor is not working correctly. The engine computer is not getting the signal it expects.
The sensor and the wiring would need to be tested.

the 1686 isnt a ford code but the 0340 is the cam position sensor may be a wiring fault or the sensor its self ,gives you a starting point as this would give the symptoms you describe

I have a 96 chevy silverado 305 with a 0340 code that I cant figure out. I changer cam sensor, crank sensor, timing chain and connectors.

Hi,

I believe an 0340 is a camshaft position sensor code - if you have already changed it have you reset the computer? This usually involves disconnecting the battery for a while and holding the brake on (or similar).

If the code keeps coming back with the new sensor installed, I'm guessing you've either got a problem with your wiring harness to that connection - check that you're getting the correction input voltages at the connector - or your engine control unit is playing up (I hope this isn't the case for your sake)

Check the wiring circuit for shorts thoroughly. Ensure the ground is connected and earthing properly.

Hope this helps - these problems can be a real beggar to pin down.

ERROR CODE 0340 AFTER TIMING BELT REPLACEMENT

Well either coincidence that the cam sensor went bad, you forgot to plug in the cam sensor, Or you have the cam that the sensor reads off of 1 tooth off. Check to see if its plugged in if yes remove the upper timing cover and see if everything lines up.

Car Stalls at low speed. Restarts. DTC Code 0340 and 1167

The codes you provided indicate separate issues. Code 1167 is indicative of either a stuck fuel injector of the O2 sensors. Code 0340 indicates the CMP position sensor. Replacing the O2 sensors will likely clear the 1167 code assuming the fuel injectors are okay. It would be the first course of action. If there's no noticeable change in performance (i.e. stalling problem continues) then the CMP position sensor is likely your overall problem. Best of luck.
