Question about 2003 Chrysler Town & Country

Open Question

On my 2003 Town and Country, the cruise control switches off by itself

Cruise control turns on when the car first starts but turns itself off after a short time. If the engine is sropped and then restarted, the cruise works again and then as before shuts itself off.

2001 town & country. My airbag/seat belt light came on, cruise control and horn stopped working. Dealer said it was the "clock spring" and usually covered as a recall item.

SOURCE: error codes 442 and 456 on 2003 Chrysler Town and Country

Could be the gas cap.  Do you fill the tank with the engine running?
Otherwise, check the hoses near the Evap canister.  I have 2003 T&C and had the small leak and large leak codes.  I looked at the evap cansiter and the hose coming from the fuel tank vapor line had a huge crack in it, to the point it had fallen off the evap caniser.  I trimmed the end of the hose and reconnected and voila, no codes.
The evap canister is on the driver's side of the van, underneath, slightly behind the drivers seat.
BTW, to clear the codes without an OBDII reader, remove the negative cable for 5-10 minutes (15 to be safe).  The computer resets and clears the codes, except for one that it sets saying loss of power to the memory.

SOURCE: locassion of output speed sensor on 2003 Town and Country

The input and output speed sensors look identical on the connector side. The one over the solenoid pack is the input, the one closer to the left frame rail or left front wheel is the output sensor. I hope this helps.

Hi, this can happen when the voltage drops too low. If you have a voltmeter, check the voltage at the battery with the engine running. It should be around 14 volts. If it is much less, remove the alternator and have it tested at your local parts chain. If the voltage is good, you may need a new instrument cluster. Please let me know if you have more questions, and thanks for using FixYa.

2001 Town and Country Cruise Control won't engage

Check your vacuum lines. Most of the time it is the vacuum lines, or the cruise actuator. I have seen a couple of brake switches not allow the cruise to set also. If it feels like it sets, then loses speed, it is a vacuum/actuator problem. If it is not setting at all, it could be either the brake switch, or the actuator.

sounds like a bad body control module for most of your problems, and the brake switch for the cruise possibly.
