Disconnect the battery. Remove the tension on the belt and remove from alternator. It wouldn't hurt to draw a diagram of how the belt goes on so you remember it when you have to put it back on. Unbolt the alternator, disconnect the wire, and unplug the connector. Reverse procedure to install, you should make sure battery is fully charged before driving.

My FOB for my ponitiac g6 quit working. i

Either the FOB is bad or you need to program the FOB. Sometimes it will have in your owners manual how to program the FOB. You can purchase a FOB from ebay or a dealer. Usually if you purchase from Ebay, the person will tell you how to program the FOB but a dealer will charge about $100 for the FOB and $45-$75 to program it and don't forget even though they know what it is they still charge a diagnostics fee of $65+

Alternater went out and I put a rebuilt one on. the hot wire gets hot and so does the alternater after you run the car a few seonds. also the battery light stays on.

I believe the rebuilt one is not good too. If the battery light stays on it means that the system is not charging. Did you connect all the wires the same way
