Try the fuel filter. Sounds like the engine might be running rough due to weak fuel pressure. Its cheaper to replace, especially if it's still original from 04. Try running some injector cleaner through a couple of tanks of high octane gas.

I have the same problem with my 2004 HD Sierra. I found that the "MBEC" 50 amp fuse in the under hood fuse box had blown. Replaced that and it works now. This has happened twice in 2 years.

There is a recall on the panel Cluster... call your dealer and have it checked out.. mention the recall... www.lemonauto.com
