The sping side of the thermostat should always point towards the engine. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll do my best to answer them. Thank you for using FixYa.com!

Changed thermostat water pump and radiator on my 2001 Buick Century but still keep running hot...what else could be the problem???HELP PLEASE

Check to see if the radiator fan is on when the AC is on. The new thermostat may have a higher operating temperature than the old one. The thermostat could have been installed upside down. The gauge is defective and reading the wrong temperature.

2008 dodge charger had water pump replaced and top thermostat but now reserve tank overflows and engine light came on

Not all products (like thermostats) bought new, work. Did you test it before you installed it? (dip in boiling water, it shoulod open) also, was it installed correctly? If upside down it probably wont be able to open. it would explain whats going. on. Good luck!

What could cause my car to over heat when I replaced my water pump and thermostat

Hello Martin, I have seen someone install a thermostat upside down . This causes the thermostat to not open . Was the engine overheating before you replaced the water pump and thermostat ? If the engine has been excessively overheated, this could cause a blown head gasket .

I have a 1991 Cadillac deville, and when I'm idling, my heat blows hot,but when I start driving down the interstate, it blows cold. I just put a new thermostat in it.

Its possible you've installed the thermostat upside down. If this is not the case, then I think you've got an air bubble in your cooling system. It could work itself out or while the engine is cooled down, you can open the radiator cap and see if its at all low on coolant.

I put a new thermostat on my 2002 cavalier now its running hot

The most common cause is that you were given the wrong thermostat when you purchased it. The second most common problem is that the thermostat was installed upside down.

1998 toyota rav 4 that keeps overheating. I just replaced the thermostat

Thermostat may be installed upside down...this can cause overheat.
To test your engine...if you don't think thermostat is faulty, remove the thermostat.
This is sometimes called "running cold"...and it should not overheat. If it does, you have bigger problem than thermostat.
You can test thermostat too by placing it in hot water thats not quite boiling and see if its opening properly.

Hope this helps...

Has no heat, both heater hose's stay cool also atsame time lower radiator hose also stays cool just replaced thermastat

Check to see if you may have installed thermostat upside down. If thermostat is in correctly, check to see that water pump is moving coolant.

My 2004 intrepid is running hot and stalling at stops v6/3.5 ltr.

It all depends. Your car will stall due to overheating. The cheapest way to find out, replace the thermostat. Pay attention to the directions on installation so you do not end up installing it upside down.

After doing this....see how your vehicle runs. If it still runs hot, then your pump may be the culprit.
