does the noise go away if you turn to the left or right?more than likely you have a bad wheel bearing. Just need to know what year, make, model, and engine size you have to help you further.

You more than likely do not need to replace "them".

To see which one is bad first you will need to narrow down whether the noise is coming from the front or the rear. If it sounds like it is coming from the front than drive it until you hear the noise. Then, when it is safe to do so, turn to the left and right enough to make the body of the vehicle roll to one side or the other. If the noise is worse turning right and becomes less noticeable turning left than focus on the left bearing. If the opposite is true than focus on the right bearing.

If the noise doesn't change rotate the tires and see if the noise follows.

To check the bearings buy hand secure the vehicle from rolling. Place the transmission in nuetral. Jack up one wheel and spin it by hand why holding the coil spring with the other. You should be able to "feel" the noise in the coil spring. Try this on both sides. If one bearing is bad you will definitely feel a difference.

it is also possible that the bearing is bad enough that it will have some play in it. With the tire off the ground grab it at the 12 and 6 o'clock position and push/pull. if you feel the tire move the bearing has play.

The most common bearing to go bad is the drivers front. But any of the other three can also be bad.

Let me know if you have any questions. Thank you for using FixYa.com!

Why after I took my four wheel drive out the front wobbles? sometime and over 55 mph its making a loud humming sound?

For the wobbling. Can you feel the wobbling in the steering wheel? If so. 1 Check tires for knots or steel breaks, 2 bent rims. 3 Check lug nuts, Also check oil-grease in front end. Humming could very well be dry front end or bearing.

When I pass 25 - 30 mph my car suddenly sounds like an airplane. It makes no sound when at a stop, only when in motion going past 30. at times it feels like it may be vibrating.

Hi, sounds like a bad wheel bearing, possible tire noise, if you can identify or narrow down which end of the car (front or rear) its coming from you can rotate your tires(front to back) and test drive and see if the sound moves to opposite end now. If not you can use a stethoscope or long screw drivers and spin each wheel by hand (vehicle not running!) and listen for a humming grinding sound while tires are off ground via a lift or jack.

My front end makes a loud humming noise. At low speeds, I hear a humming noise and at high-speeds I can hear a noise in my tires. Not sure if it is an the wheel bearings, bad tires, or alignement.

Alignment will not create a sound by it's self. The most common cause of humming (especially if you have an agressive tread design)is a wear pattern in the tires...check for that or rotate the tires around & see if the noise changes. If it does then you know it's in the tires. & Not always, but most of the time a bearing noise will increase or decrease in intensity if you load up one side at a time by doing 35-50 mph & turning slightly to each side.

Chevrolet has a common problem with integral hub and wheel bearings wearing due to exessive use or lack of lubrication, the balls or rollers and races become pitted ,scored or just plain damaged which will infact cause a loud humming or growling noise. I have had some humm at about the same speed but usually they will start to make noise at any speed. I would have to hear the noise to be sure cause there are many things to cause a humming noise like odd tire wear, bad idler pully bearings, e.t.c. the tires should be lifted checked for excessive play in the bearing. Take tire off depress brake piston in just enough secure brake rotor use stethoscope spin hub while listening. maybe he replaced wrong side seen that alot, seen tire noise mistaken for bad bearing to if struts or shocks are worn can cause tires to be choppy. I would recommend taken back 300 dollars is alot of money to not fix your problem.
