I just had this exact problem last week. We just put a new alternator, battery and belt in it and the next day it wouldnt start. Turns out my starter brushes are bad and need to be replaced, or your battery cables are shot.

Check for bad relays, that get stuck. Some fuel pump relays get stuck also. Make sure nothing is left on such as any lights , etc. Your alternatopr could be bad too.

Battery keeps draining even after replacing alternator on 94 gcl 5.2 any ideas

Try this, disconnect the alternator and see if it still drains the alternator, you say new but i know it is rebuilt, and some rebuilders do a terrible job, this is esp true of the so called discount auto parts stores (that is a joke as they often charge more than a dealer) such as O'reilly and others. Buy a Mopar rebuilt if the alternator turns out to be the source of the battery draw down. Also make sure no light inside the truck are on like sun visor lights and so on. Have the battery tested shorted cells cause a draw and will kill the battery overnight, don't over testing new parts as they can be bad, found this out the hard way early in my mechanical career.

2000 COUGAR BATTERY DRAW

sounds like the voltage regulator on the altenator cable or the cable running from battery to altenator shorting a bit.

99 cougar 2.5 v6..starting problems

take your car to autozone. It might be your alternator. It is better if you take off the alternator to have it tested, just incase it is a parasitic leak. This happened to my navigator 2 days ago. It was wierd because it ran fine when it was warm outside. But kept killing by battery when it was cold!

1999 mercury cougar. won't start...cranks...battery ok.

V6 ? 4CYL? Have you verified SPARK? Did anyone check the "fuel pump inertia switch?" Its in the right front kick panel. If it was a "Anti-theft Issue" the light would be on or flashing.
