SOURCE: Toyota Land Cruiser check timimg Belt

Hi,

I am assuming that you have a series 80 diesel engine and that it has run for about 100,000 kms hence the warning light and the changing of the timing belt. Based on the instructions of its repair manual you need to "remove the grommet off from the speedometer and turn off the lamp by pushing the warning light reset switch, then replace the grommet." Alternately, you can try to reset the entire computer of the vehicle by removing the battery cables for a couple of minutes. Pls note that some car radios/head units would revert to security default (ask for a code) when power is completely removed.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

SOURCE: 1997 Toyota land cruiser prado Rz compass bearing, temperature setting, etc.

I've been resetting pajero's compasses but try to get to an area where you can do 360 degrees turns (empty car parks, ) press the reset button and make 2 complete 360 turns slowly and normally this should set the compass bearing.
Let us know how you get on. Cheers.

DASHBOARD LIGHT WONT WORK 63 MERCURY MONTEREY BREEZWAY

You probably need to pull the instrument cluster out and replace the illumination bulbs from the backside of the instrument cluster. All the bulbs back there are likely all the same ( your illumination and warning bulbs), so change them all. Happy motoring!
How to get the cluster out? Look for screws to remove. Get any bezel or trim plates out of the way. Check for screws again, cluster should pull out a few inches, then reach behind and unclip the speedo cable from back of cluster, then pull off the electrical plug from back of cluster. Now should be able to remove the cluster. Hopefully your steering wheel will allow cluster to be removed, but if not, take off the steering wheel's center nut, the pull off the steering wheel-sometimes a steering wheel puller is required-an inexpensive tool available at parts store.

Of course, before doing all this, check for a blown instrument panel fuse-something like instr. lmps, or instr pnl designation.
Good luck.

The problem is a blown bulb, you will need to remove the cluster and replace the bulb. you will need to remove the cover around the cluster and then you will see the four screws holding the cluster. remove thoughs screws and pull cluster out slowly. the cluster will need to be pulled out enough to get to wiring that plugs into the rear of it. unhook the connector from the rear. with the cluster out you will see the bulbs on the rear, locate area of the bulb, remove the bulb and to make sure its the correct bulb shine a light through the hole of the bulb you removed and look at the front of it to see if thats the engine light. good day.

Hi there,

Well you can please follow the below steps -
1. Remove the two screws on the underside of the dash cowl.
2. Pull off the trim bezel that surrounds the gauge cluster and dash assembly by pulling it forward with your hands.
3. Remove the four screws that hold the gauge cluster in place.
4. Slide the gauge cluster forward, and remove the electrical plugs from the back of the cluster.
5. Replace the bulbs that are blown. Turn each bulb counterclockwise to unlock it from the dash cluster assembly, then pull the bulb straight out of the housing. Insert the new bulb, align the tabs on the bulb with the notches in the back of the cluster and turn it clockwise to lock it into the housing.
6. Reassemble the dash. Assembly is the reverse of disassembly. Post comments for more help or information........

Good Luck!!

How to replace corolla dashboard lights

Difficult to explain step by step. You need yo remove the instrument cluster. If youre technically minded its not very hard, start by loosening the Phillip"s head screws that is visible on the panel directly under the instrument cluster, give it a try!

Phillip

Check engine light does not turn on at all

The bulb is probably loose and/or burnt out. If you are mechanically inclined you can tackle this job... This procedure is the one i use, most often it's the blue high beam indicator bulb that goes so if you want to change it while your in there.....(hint hint)
Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable. Wait a good 2 minutes to allow for air bag deactivation...NOTE: USE CAUTION ...Lower the tilt wheel to lowest position.
Remove the cluster bezel from the instrument panel.
Remove the two screws that secure the upper mounting tabs of the instrument cluster to the underside of the instrument cluster hood formation of the instrument panel top pad.
Remove the two screws that secure the lower mounting tabs of the instrument cluster to the instrument panel structural duct.
Pull the upper mounting tabs of the instrument cluster downward, then pull the instrument cluster rearward far enough to access the instrument panel wire harness connector for the instrument cluster. Disconnect the instrument panel wire harness connector for the instrument cluster from the connector receptacle on the back of the instrument cluster housing.
Remove the instrument cluster from the instrument panel. Now do you remember which bulb it was? You can now see where the check engine light bulb is mounted. Twist and remove, install in reverse order. In some cases they are just loose or not making good ground, but after going through this just to access that lil bugger, i'd replace it.
I hope i have helped you and if you feel i have please acknowledge.
Be well and keep the cherokees alive....

Trying to replace the dash bulbs, how do you get the control cluster out? do you have to take the whole dash out?

Start by removing the steering wheel. (19mm socket) next remove the steering column upper and lower covers by removing the four screws from the underside of the plastic cover. There are two small screws that you need to remove to pull out the black trim around your cluster using a stubby philips screwdriver. They are easier to see with a small flashlight, look up just above and back from the clear plastic cover over your instrument panel. One is about at 10 o'clock and the other at 2 o'clock. Just pull the dimmer switch cover straight back and remove the small nut so you can get the trim out. It just snaps in so be gentle. Once you have the trim out there are only a few screws holding the cluster in and there are two connectors attached to the back. Remove those and your'e home free. Let me know if that helps.
