Got a 1991 honda civic hatchback dx for a starter car and its automatic, when it wants not all the time,so im driving 30mph and for some reason it like slips than catchs back on gear any ideas?

All Honda Civic Hatchbacks have been raced and thrashed to death by 20 year olds. Not a good starter car as all the other 20 year olds had the same idea.

Check the Transmission fluid level it may be at the operational limit and sucking air. If not, get a newer vehicle and not a Civic :>)

Should I change the transmission fluid on my 2003 Honda Pilot that has 100,000 miles?

Yes, and make sure you use genuine Honda automatic transmission fluid, not aftermarket. Get an 18mm drain plug gasket while toy are at the dealer. This would be a drain and fill only, it holds 3.0 or 3.5 quarts. Do not flush, Honda states this is not good, and they are correct. If it has never been changed, you might consider doing it twice, drain and fill, drive it, drain and fill.

How do I check the automatic transmission fluid level in my 1989 Honda Civic DX?

Well it depends if it is an automatic or a manual, if it is an automatic the there is a dip stick under the hood where you can check it just make sure the car is running when you check it. And if it is a manual, then there is a bolt on the back of the transmission, but not on the bottom. It's about halfway up the backside of the transmission, and it should be a 9/16 size bolt. You have to take off the bolt and stick your finger in there and if you feel fluid in there then it's good, but if you can't feel any then you need to add some in the same hole until fluid comes out of the hole. And if you need fluid then you will need to buy a little hand pump like thing that will just thread onto the transmission oil you buy and it will have a clear hose on the pump and you'll just put the pump on the fluid container and put the hose in the hole and pump it in till it comes back out.

How to change the automatic transmision fluid and filter on a 1997 honda civic lxi

Believe there is no filter and there is a drain plug
on the transmission pan like the one on the oil pan.
Check with Honda, but believe it's three quarts, and
you should repeat the procedure twice. Get the engine
up to operating temperature, drain the fluid in the pan
pull the little dip stick on top of the transmission and
add the 3 quarts. Drive it around for a few minutes
and repeat. This flushes out some of the fluid in
the torque converter. If you are going to keep the
car, pick up a Haynes repair manual. This procedure
is for a 98 so double check, should be the same.
