Many clicks = bad cables or a bad/weak battery.
Don't replace the starter. If there was just ONE click, I would advise you to remove the starter & inspect the starter solenoid contacts.
I agree, replace the cables, and maybe have the battery tested for percent of health.

My 1999 Toy 4Runner had only clicking after turning the key (multiple) without cranking the engine; After trying again 3 times, I managed to get the started and made it to an auto store (I also waited for the outside temp to warm-up a few degrees from 34F); a new battery did the trick! I was about to begin looking for a new starter/solenoid until I read this e-trail. Thanks!

My 98 4runner won't start it just clicks

The most common reasons are a faulty starter, starter relay, battery, or cable.
Someone would need to check to see if you have battery voltage at the starter when the key switch is in the start position.

My 2010 Toyota 4runner will not start. The power seats move and the lights come on, but i only get a 'clicking' sound when i turn the key.

Could still be a weak battery. The power seats and lights will use less draw than the starter motor. The relay is the clicking noise that you have and is probably because the batter is low. My recommendation is to have someone try jump starting the truck. You should be all set.

Toyota four runner 95 v6 it doesnt start makes clicking sound in the engine?

if your battery is fully charged, then your starter celliniod contact is probably worn out.

you can remove your starter and have it tested at an alternator/starter specialty repair/rebuild shop. if the cellinoid or cellinoid contact tests bad, then you can replace either of those for just a few dollars.

if the entire starter tests bad, then you can usually have it rebuilt for around $100.

Unable to start 1996 toyota 4runner.It makes squeky sound when turn the key on ?

First check the starter, if not check the engine oil. Also try to put other person to start the engine and you try to see were the sound comes with the hood open. Hear carefully.

MY 2002 4runner won't start. It makes a clicking

I am working on my mother-in-law's 2002 4Runner right now. The problem is a common one for Toyota starters and is likely due to worn contacts in the starter itself. When you engage the starter by turning the key, the worn contacts are preventing enough current from getting to the starter bendix (this is the rod that engages the flywheel and makes the engine turn over. you can hear the starter spinning, but the gear on the starter bendix is not engaged with the flywheel. If you can remove the starter, it is likely you can buy new contacts from Toyota, or your local parts store. Or you can buy a new/refurbished starter from your parts store for less than $200 and you will get money back for giving them your old starter. The tricky part is getting the starter out, which is what I am working on right now.

Toyota 4runner wil not start

Check the Spark plugs, starter, or the battery wires. It depends on if it is trying to turn over or if its not doing anything at all. If its trying to turn over then its most likely your starter or spark plugs or could simply be its getting too much air due to a leak. If Its not doing anything at all no clicking nothing then its probably a problem with the battery wires. If its just making a clicking noise then its yoru starter.
