How to fix a 1992 honda accord catalytic converter? What does it look like and where is it on the car?

It is located beneath the vehicle and is attached to the exhaust pipe coming from the engine. It resembles a muffler and has your O2 sensor attached to it. It would be located more towards the front of the vehicle versus the muffler which is in the rear.

My 1992 Saturn SL2 needs a muffler. Don't want anything expensive since I don't know how long the car will last before needing something major. I can buy a muffler, but my question is about installing. ...

Usually you can get an universal muffler, around $20 or so. You can install it with a muffler clamp to hold it on to the existing exhaust pipe instead of welding it.

look under truck when cool and from engine follow exhaust pipe towards back will see what looks like a small muffler [ usually about 2 to 3 feet away from engine and before the muffler] thats ur cat conv if ur doing it yourself make sure before going near cat that truck hasnt been running and is cool cat can cause extreme burns up to 1/2 hour after truck has been turned off-also some are bolted in others are welded if welded in measure before cutting old out sometimes may have get an adapter length and extra clamps

Muffler is loud and rattles due to debris and possible hole

either live with it or get out a saw and cut it out and weld in a new exhaust muffler. or you might get the measurements and get one to fit where you cut out the old one from your parts store.. make sure you measure your pipe and get a muffler that will fit over the pipe .. You will need clamps for the muffler also.. thanks and holler if you need more Jerry
