Question about 1999 Chevrolet S-10 Pickup
Charged battery. lights and warnings, radio work when you turn the key. truck wont start. Tried it in neutral and tried it in park. Thought if I rolled it forward or backwards a little and tried it again it may help, no luck. When I turn the key it makes a snap sound followed by a shhhhhh sound. without turning the key to off if I try it again it just makes the snap sound the second time. It doesn't make any clicking noises or any other noise other than the single snap sound. The engine turns over when I turn the ignition on but it just won't start. I haven't done any troubleshooting as of yet but I can hear the fuel pump come on when I turn the key. My gas gage hasn't worked in a few years so I wondering if the fuel pump finally gave out.
Try replacing the fuel sending unit first. Then check your ignition relays. Are you ruining any codes. because for the most part your truck will tell you whats wrong if your pump is bad it should run a low fuel pressure code and if there is something with the ignition you might run a oxygen sensor code. when you turn it over do you smell gas.
