loosen up the linkage at the transmission a little,click the linkage i click on the transmission(shift it manually to reverse),put the gear selector in the car in reverse,then tighten the linkage.see if that helps.

check and repair the brake light circuit(fuse,bulb,etc.)This happened to me and was ready to take steering column apart glad i read the owners manual first!

this is just a suggestion but the steering wheel lock may be malfunctioning try while whith your left hand jerking your steering wheel counter clock wise while jostling your ignition with your keys securely in the ignition towards the start direction. this may not be it but it does happen
