SOURCE: gasket replacement

in my opinion if the car is changing gears fine then just fix the gasket and seals when you can if its changing fine then they are trying to rip you off as renewing the seals and gasket will fix your leak and if its slipping gears it could last a day it could last a year so if its slipping yes its important to replace it

SOURCE: how to remove the valve cover to replace gasket

What kind of engine? If it's a 3.0L Vulcan, you have to take off the upper and lower intake manifolds and you'll be able to take the valve covers off. There's a bunch to take off before you get to that point. The EGR Valve, Throttle body assembly, ignition coil pack, etc. Make sure you relieve the fuel system pressure (it might be behind the right side well cover of your trunk- disconnect that connection), and take off the negative battery terminal before begining work.

SOURCE: I need a replacement keys for 2001 ford taurus

A good place to start is a ford dealer. Often they can cut you a key off the VIN number. You will have to go there in person., and some kind of proof of ownership would be needed!

I have a 2001 Ford taurus, it was running rough at times, then ran well for several days, then could hardly run it was missing so bad, and dyed, found water in oil and on oil filter, could you hlep?

Hello! The chances that your vehicle needs to have the Head Gasket replaced are high...I'll give you the labor figure shortly...Drain the oil...Replace the oil filter, the PCV valve and the gas filter..top off the radiator and see what you have...Small amount of money commpares to the following...6.2 hours at approximately $100/Hr. to do only one side...Both sides=8.2 hrs@ $100/Hr....If inexpensive fix does not work the head gasket (one or both sides) will have to be replaced..Shop around...Guru...Saailer

2002 ford taurus - need to replace heater core. do you have to remove the entire dash or is there a short cut? also is $600 including labor at a shop a typical price for this job?

The labor time to replace the heater core is 5.5 hours if equipped with a center console, and 5.0 hours without. Multiply this by the shops hourly rate and you have the labor time. Ex: 5.0 x $100.00 per hr. = $500 labor plus parts. The heater core will be approx. $100.00 (Ford # F80Z-18476-AA) and coolant will be approx. $25.00. Labor times will vary depending on the labor book but should not vary by more than 1/2 hour. Sometimes a coolant flush and thermostat replacement may be recommended. Flushing can run $100 and a thermostat should cost no more than $25.00 plus .8 hours.

As far as shortcuts, the dash does have to be removed but could be partially pulled back. This should be done by an experienced person since costly damage could occur. Good luck.

1983 Ford F-250 w/351 cid engine has jumped time. I will start, but backfires severely. What is estimated cost of repair?

Timing chain set $25, timing cover gasket set $15, 5qts of oil and filter $20, one gallon of antifreeze $8 take about three hours to do, about $80 an hour for labor if you take it to someone. Think about replacing waterpump too, be another $25.

You didn't tell us in which currency that '2780' was quoted but if US $, that seems unreasonable to me.
Timing belts can cost >$100 but not often and vary in degrees of difficulty to replace; on one of our cars (87 X1/9) it's about a 30 minute job. A Subaru Outback is more like a couple of hours so yours is likely in that range somewhere.
Valve cover and transmission gaskets aren't normally that tough to replace and cost little; check one of the chain auto parts sites to verify that. It only takes a few minutes to run up the potential parts cost and the labor should run well under a $1000 total.
Now you have a second opinion but, get a 3rd one in person.

Pricing what the cost to have head gasket replaced

depending on who you get it's about a 6 hour job to do it right and you want to replace the head bolts and timing belt as you do it...Gasket kit on eBay-$46, timing belt and tensioner $56, and bolts around $50 at Advance Auto Parts....the belt and tensioner is $89 at Advance and the gaskets are almost $200 so go with eBay...I actually did mine last week...The engine mount is the worst part of the job if you have air tools...The job at a dealer will run about $400-800 depending for labor and then the parts another $500 or more....local garage, about $550 for parts and labor, at least here in KY.
