SOURCE: 1998 zx2 timing

timing mark is on flywheel for crank and on the rear end of the cams under the rocker cover.be carefull with this as the pulleys do not have keyways and can come loose resulting in smashed valves and piston.make sure retaining bols have locktite or better still araldite on the threads and use a impact gun on them.fairly easy job to do though, make sure you remove tensioner though and remove the dust cover and give a little drop of oil and some new grease then push seal cover back on ,saves the cost of a new bearing as these are not cheap.

SOURCE: I have a spun rod bearing, and a scored crank

Talk to an engine rebuild shop near you. They should be able to save your crank if it's not broken, and get you a set of bearings and piston or anything else you need. They'll be in the Yellow pages.

99 chevy vorte marks wont line up

if you lined up marks on cam and crank gears when you installed timing chain and you used the original timing cover and timing mark tab and did not turn engine before checking the marks the balancer is spun and needs to be replkaced if the engine has been turned it may be 180 degrees out of time you will need to turn engine at least two full revolutions and recheck maybe upto 4 times if it still does not line up with all original parts no chrome timing covers or timing tabs the balancer is bad and needs replaced

How do you repair spun bearings on a 1994 Mitsubishi eclipse Gst ?

if the bearings or even one bearing has spun, the lower end of the motor needs new bearings and the crankshaft must be "turned" or resurfaced.. this requires pulling the engine... if you drive this vehicle in this condition, you will have catastropihic engine failure which would totally destroy the motor probably.. If you or someone has the expertise to remove the motor, putting in a "crank kit" is not difficult for anyone with a little mechanic experience.. but, basically, this is time to rebuild the motor whether you just do the crank kit or go ahead and go all the way with it since you already have it out and opened up...

How do I find the timing marks to time a 4-cyl 93 Caravan engine? I have the crank gear and camshaft gear already exposed and new belt already on. I need to know how to align it to the proper position.

The crankshaft gear has a center punch mark on gear and the intermediate gear has a line mark on gear. Rotate the crank until the #1 piston is top dead center. In doing so the crankshaft mark should line up with the intermediate gear mark. (crankshaft mark at 1 oclock and intermediate gear mark at 7 oclock). At the same time look at the cam gear and the small hole should be at the top and the two larger holes should align with the bearing cap. ((parting line should be looking at it will be 50/50 when you look at the front of cam gear). Remember to remove belt before timing engine correctly. Also make sure the negative wire is disconnected from battery before starting this job. Hope this will help you.

I put on a new timing belt.both cam gears marks are up,crank grear mark is in line, will not start.

the arrows should face up and there are marks on each gear that should be across from one another in between the two gears{were the gears are nearest each other} al marks should line up again after you turn the crank two complete revolutions. if not remove belt and redo. also make sure cam and crank sensors didnt get damaged/uunplugged
