SOURCE: my engine makes a knocking noise

Could be a loose bearing on the crank shaft, it could also be valve lifter chatter. without knowing a little more info it is hard to diagnose

SOURCE: Knocking noise in engine of 98 malibu

Whats your oil pressure? If low noise could be lifters, rod or crank bearings. Also a source of similar noise is broken flex plate. Best to have this checked right away.

SOURCE: Loud knocking in my engine?????

Sorry, but loud knocking noise from the engine don't sound good and if it is a hard knock then I would suggest a bearing failure inside the engine like on the crankshaft. But hey this is only one man's opinion. Good luck.

Where is the knock sensor located on the 98 Isuzu Rodeo 2,2 L 4 cyl engine

knock sensor
2.2L 4 banger, most are on side of engine block.
ill look for your.
does the PCM scans tell you its bad? that be first.
its just a microphone, and can be fooled
a bad valve train can make noise and fool it.
the knock sensor has 2 wire,(few things do there)
one wire is yellow, other is green. (clue 2) this usually nails it.
my online isuzu books sux a bit, zero locator.s
but guess what, 3rd google search.
and is where most are, on 4 bangers.
id use a stethoscope ($4) to listen to see if engine has internal noises first, (not ping) but valve train or piston slap, or rod knocks.
why not post symptoms and not just hunts....????

Toyota caldina

Have the battery tested under load at a battery shop. Is there any noise, like a ticking sound, this indicates the battery doesn't have enough power to crank the engine.

I have a 95 oldsmobile 98 regency elite I cant find where the knock sensor goes I have a haynes manual but where it shows it wont go

Well, for starters, your problem got posted under 1985 Oldsmobile 98 - then you said it was a 95 Oldsmobile 98 Regency Elite (HUGE difference between 85 and 95)...then it would be REALLY nice to know which engine we are talking about.

I'll just go with what you said last: 1995 Oldsmobile Regency Elite (Two engine possibilities)

If you have the 3.8L Supercharged engine (VIN CODE "1") it is on the left side of the engine near the oil filter.

If you have the non-supercharged 3.8L (VIN CODE "K") there are TWO of them. One is near the oil filter and the other one is in about the same location on the other side of the engine block.

Please also note that MOST fault codes for knock sensors are not caused by the knock sensors themselves. (they do fail, but it is very rare.) Usually there is either a wiring problem to the knock sensor, or the engine has internal problems causing a "knocking" or "ticking" noise which causes the engine computer to "think" that there is a problem with pre-detonation causing an "ignition ping". The code sets when the computer has retarded the ignition timing as far as it can and the "knock" or "ping" does not go away....usually it doesn't go away because it is not caused by ignition timing. The knock sensor is just doing its job and reporting the knock. It does not know the difference between a knock caused by ignition and a knock caused by internal engine problems.

Knocking noise in the engine.

You have a Lifter and Rocker Arm Tapping. You will need to Take off the Valve Covers and Listen for the Tap. When you Locate it Tighten Down Until it stops and then Back it off 1/8 of a Turn.
