SOURCE: how to change oil transmission isuzu rodeo 2003

There are two drain plugs on the bottom of the pan. remove the lower one to drain the trans fluid. To refill, use a pump and pump the fluid into the upper drain plug until it seeps out and re-install the plug, similar to refilling a manual trans.
Once this is done, Start the vehicle and run it for about 3 minutes, shifting through all gears (do not drive vehicle Remove the upper drain plug and let any excess fluid drain out. Done. This is as per Mitchell OnDemand.

SOURCE: 1999 isuzu rodeo 4wd not woking

I had this happen to a 1999 4x4 LS and my sisters boyfriend mentioned to periodically turn 4x4 on/off at least once a month.
What I did was go down a stretch of road slowly and attempt to turn it on/off till it became unstuck.
Drove around 10 miles on a road that was hardly used...to get the stupid light to quit flashing I had to put it in park and try to creep forward ---while using off settiing or put in park then reverse...while using the off -setting on 4x4. My patience paid off. They get sticky...you must be cautious... because there is a way to cause vibration and then it won't start...some deadman feature that I experienced once and the LWD must have slipped in a little and I had to look at everything.
Mine is an Automatic with the shift on the floor...that can get sticky too.

Good luck and hope this helps...mine had lots of growing pains but I get 23 mpg and it runs/idles better and the only gremlin left is some short in the dash which leaves the lights D/3 (one or both on)for the shift indicator on:)

SOURCE: isuzu rodeo sport 4wd, stuck in 4wd

Don't know if this will help with your exact problem, but I can share with you how I have "fixed" this.

If the 4WD indicator is flashing, then it means the 4WD select switch is working but the 4wd "clutch" hasn't released. Backing the vehicle up slowly, or sometimes just switching into reverse with the 4WD switch in the 2WD position is usually enough to release the 4WD and the 4WD indicator should go off. It after all this, the indicator still does not go off, it could be some issue with the electric 4WD clutch not releasing.
You should be able to tell if the 4WD drive is still engaged by driving slowly in a circle. On drive pavement, the front wheels will "hop" around. Don't do this too fast or too often on drive pavement, since the part time 4WD was not meant for this. The front wheels have to be able to slip in relation to each other, when in 4WD.

Hope this helps and wish you well in your troubleshooting.

I can not put my 4x4 2003 rodeo into 4wd.

old post
put car on
ICE (at least 1 tire) to shift.
or off road
shift to 4wd moving slow as possible;

your car is not AWD, (all wheel drive)
nor is it TOD. IT IS PART TIME 4WD. ONLY.
ITS NOT FOR DRY PAVEMENT OR EVEN WATER WET ONLY PAVEMENT ,AT ALL.
rtm

I can not put my 4x4 2003 rodeo into 4wd.

Have you check the transfer case to make sure when you try to engage it that it is locking the case in? If not then you may have a linkage problem, if it is locking it in you may have a baring issue which is a bit more of a problem

4L and 4H lights flashes when you try to engage either of them in 05 Isuzu Rodeo

this is a part time 4wd, not AWD.
and as such must not be run on dry ice free pavement.
so post if car is on said pavement.
test 4wD in DIRT, does it work now, or not?
if you keep doing it on dry pavement this happens.
see here
http://www.rubicon-trail.com/4WD101/driveline-bind.html

read the wiki on all system. and see what you can do and can not.

its not AWD, and has no CENTER differentiable gears.

I have 2003 RA Holden Rodeo 3.0 ltr T/Diesel. The 2 front wheels don't seem to be engaging when i put it into 4wd (high or low range). I can hear the high and low range click in when i press the buttons...

Does yours have AUTO hubs, there are some luxory models have auto hubs, these rely on difference in drive on the axles,(wheel spin) others have manual locking hubs, these actually need to be engaged manually, these require you to twist the centre of the hub to engage and disengage the front hubs, these sometimes require you to reverse to disengage properly, Rodeo had both depending on model. How reset check 4wd light for isuzu rodeo 2003 S

I found the easiest less expensive solution that you should always check first. On my 2003 Rodeo I had the check trans and check 4wd light an ABS light on. Underneath the center console/armrest there is a black box sensor. Right below cup holders. That piece is easily drenched in coffee, water, whatever and causes shorts/ Change that out and a fix to all my problems.

not transfer case motor....there is none on a rodeo....trooper has torque on demand.....rodeo problem is likely shift on fly mtr...mounted on front axle....if u dont use 4wd regularly it sticks and gets stuck.
