EL60 automatic transmission

Could it be coming from the dash??? That car might be old enough to have a speedo cable. Another thought, I know some Caddys that had an automatic park brake release. You had to put it in gear for the Park brake to release. Hope that helps.

If it is a four wheel drive check your tail shaft or drive line by securing the vehicles front wheels jack up the rear tires and in park try to rotate the drive line if you can hear the transmission sound like it is going into gear the transfer case could be damaged! If not a four wheel drive pull the transmission dipstick and look to see if the fluid is dark red or metallic grayish color if so then you're clutch disks inside the tyranny have been worn out and it needs to be rebuilt!

Sounds like the shift cable has slipped or stretched when you forced it in reverse. I would check that before removing the trans pan. Make sure to leave the park brake on, Remove the cable from the transmission, usually just one nut. After doing that see if you can shift the transmission with your fingers or a pair of pliers. If so, then the problem is in the cable/linkage and not the trans. Hope this helps

Sounds like your transmission. It could be your u joints in your drive shaft. However, if its coming from the front , it is probably your transmission going bad. Check your front end out also.

It can be issue with gears or problem with transmission and needs to be rebuilt. Also get the ****** fluid checked. If it's low, then such problems occurs.

The shifter needs to be inspected. If The shifter assembly is got misaligned, it has to be open and realign.
