SOURCE: Hi, I need to replace the timing belt on my

Here is the easy one. .When you are ready to do it.
1- Take out all Spark plugs so you can turn the crank shaft easily to allign Crank shaft mark hole with the 0 timing mark as well as the cam shaft mark with the V mark. This is to ensure you are at Top Dead Center.
2- Put in a screw driver at cylinder # 1 to make tuoch the top of the piston to make sure it is at the top of the compression. After confirmation pull out the screw driver.
3- Keep everything in the same place, so it make it easier for you to look for the valve position associated with Piston position....
4- Start to take out the old timing belt.
5- If you use any force to losen up the Crank shaft bolt, make sure allign the mark back to the ark before completely remove the crank shaft bolt so you don't miss the Top Dead Center mark later with the new time ming belt.
6- Put in the timing belt, make sure all mark are not moving.
7- Put back everything plus spark plugs.
8- You are done.
Good luck.

That's easy, there are some pulleys with ridges to grip the underside of the belt, and some are smooth for the top side of the belt.
I can only assume your belt broke and fell off so you couldn't see how it was on prior. But either way you have limited length, and the last place you would be routing the belt is the tensioner, which you should have located first, so you can have a wrench handy to fit it.

Here's what you have:
Top left= alternator (small ridged)
top right = power steering (large ridged)
Bottom right = AC compressor (large ridged)
Bottom middle = Crank Pulley (large ridged)
In middle next to Power steering = Tensioner (small shiny smooth)

Remove the air cleaner housing (two bolts)
Start on left top side and loop belt (clockwise) across the alternator to the power steering down to AC (also clockwise from right to left) then over to crank pulley (from bottom clockwise around to top of pulley) to tensioner (smooth, belt is backwards on it) which will go back up to the alternator.

At the top middle there should be a sensor protruding from the timing cover that the belt passes under as it connects between the alternator and the power steering. And you won't easily be able to fit anything besides a box-end wrench on the tensioner, so you may need some kind of extension on the wrench to get good torque on it without hurting yourself.

Timing chain or belt in a 2004 suzuki swift 1.3L

Diesel or GASoline, they offered 2 engines 1.3L
google answers that.
one way to find this (besides a goggle search (worked for me 100x)
besides a real FSM or alldata.com look in 1min. flat. is.....
is to learn which of the 56 Suz engines you have.
the WIKI says, its a M13A
armed with that key fact, you can find out anything on that engine.
one way is to read the GATES belt page, see if they sell a belt.
looks like chain
