What could cause the temp gauge to not register after replacing decending unit, thermostat, water pump & antifreeze?

Bad ECM, bad wire from the ECM to the instrument panel, and a bad motor for the temp gauge.

Temp gauge not registering and cooling fan's run continuously

the temp gauge works of a different sender to the coolant sensor. IT has 1 wire only and changes resistance as the water heats up there by moving the needle on the gauge up the scale Check that the wire is tight on the sender unit and if so then replace the sender unit.. The difficulty in re starting the motor may be because it is over heating but you would not know this because of the faulty sender unit.

The needle stays on cold and doesnt even reach the middle to where it should be but the heat still works could this be a thermostat issue

If the heater is producing normal heat, then the problem is not the thermostat. The sensor for the temp gauge or the temp gauge itself is more likely the cause.

The coolant light flashes on but the temp gauge does'nt go past the middle when the car is running

YOUR TEMP GAGE WILL NOT REGISTER CORRECTLY WHEN THE COOLANT FALLS BELOW A CERTAIN LEVEL. WHEN IT IS SMOKING IT IS EXTREMELY HOT. IF YOU HAVE A COOLANT LEAK THAT BAD IT SHOULD BE NOTICEABLE EVEN WHEN IT IS NOT HOT. YOU NEED TO FIND THE SOURCE OF THE COOLANT LEAK. WATER PUMP, COOLANT HOSE, FREEZE PLUG, HEAD GASKET, RADIATOR CAP LEAK, OR RADIATOR, OR HEATER CORE. CHECK THE ABOVE AND YOU WILL FIND THE SOURCE OF THE LEAK.

Car doesnt heat up change therstat still doest heat up

Is your gauge just showing a low temperature? i can guarantee your engine is getting hot. If your gauge is showing low temp you may just have a bad temp sensor.

2003 Town & Country - no heat or gauge movement

If the coolant level (antifreeze) level is low there may not be enough fluid in the system for the temperature sensor to register a proper reading ( think of it as holding an oral thermometer just outside of your mouth).

Insufficient fluid passing through the heater core (small fan that blows through a small heated radiator) may not be enough to produce heat.

However: At increased speeds the engine may be heating what little fluid there is to a point to supply heat to the heater core, and register on the temperature sensor.
