My 1990 prelude will not charge the batt while driving and batt light is on

you will need a new alternator. battery light means there is no charge in the electrical system. always first check the earths and wires before changing the alternator as a faulty earth can also be the main problem.

Was cranking but now it ignition clicks but will not turnover.

Dead battry. Charge batt. Try again. OR jump start with cables from 2nd car or tow truck. You may have service with your insurance for jump start at no cost. Once started you need to check the charging system to see if thats why it faild. Either alternator (charger) is faild or battery is failed. Generally its that simple, but somtimes not. Drive it to an auto parts store, they may put a meter on the car to check voltage while running. If voltage is 14 -15 + volts while running, then alternator is likely good and you need a new battery.
Good luck

I have 1989 toyota tercel. The alternator will run the car's electrical system but will not charge the battery.I have a new battery and alternator.what the problem?

Check the charging rate of the car's electrical system....it should read at idling 14volts.If its not or is just reading 12volts or low means the alternator is not charging, Replace the alternator and get the old battery charged or if its more thn 17months old replace it.
Hope this helps!

Good batt & new alternator.. but battery keeps losing charge

Make sure all connections at alternator are attached. On some, the regulator is inside the computer and if bad, requires computer change.

Alternater will not charge battery and alternater is good

Try re-doing all connections, check your alternator at a national parts store chain, and if the alternator passes, replace batt.

I have a 1989 fordf350 deisel batt light stays on

I would check the plug going into the alternator. They have been known to fail at times. I would also check the fuse for the alternator if equipped.

89 thunder bird. Not charging

Did you hook up the wires from the correctly? Some batteries have the pos and neg reversed on the mounting posts. You may need to double check battery cables and alternator cables are charging. If you have a volt meter, you can perform more diagnostic tests on your own. Like testing output of alternator to ensure you are putting out the correct polarity.

Not charging batt

if i were you i would check the alternator again. just take something steel and touch the top of the alternator but be very careful not to touch the pully. if you feel a magnetic pull on the alternator then then is not it if thier is not a pull then the alternator is bad its common to get a faulty part back from some places but if thats the case then go get your money back from where you got it. also check the batt. cables may not be tight enough.
