Leaking rubber seals

On my slk 200, 51 plate the rubber seal on the roof where the glass of the door seals up against when the door is closed is leaking.

Can this be repaired or replaced and at what cost.

Regards
Ryan

Ryan,

I had the same problem on my wife's 2000SLK, took it to the dealer, they did a water pressure test in this area, charging me $80.00 and came up with nothing. Upon my further investigation, I discovered that there is a drain built into the rubber seal at the top of the windshield, in the corner where the top of the door glass meets that rubber seal on the driver's side. look carefully and you will see three small holes in the rubber seal at the top of the windshield and a larger triangular shaped depression in the corner, this is a "catch-basin" drain that runs all the way down the side of the rubber gasket along the end of the "A" pillar emptying in the space in front of the door, then onto the ground. First I cleaned out the triangular catch basin carefully with a small flat bladed screw driver, then used compressed air to blow out the drain. Blow out the three small holes also. This procedure worked for me. Do the same on the passenger side. Good Luck!

To add to the first question sun roof is leaking and water is pouring into the driver side when it rains

Check the drain channel is not blocked.there are tiny holes which take the water down tubes in the front door pillars.they can get blocked with debris from small leaves etc.first sign this has happened is when internal roof especially around mirror gets wet.use a knitting needle or open up a wire coat hanger and clear blockages.if this doesn't solve it you may needs to source a new seal and refit.

How do I eliminate the loud wind noises coming through closed sunroof? I have a 2002 Holden Vx Ss Series 2 Commodore

sounds like you need new rubber seals, but first, open the roof, and with a damp cloth, clean dirt off the inside rubbers, then close roof most of the way and clean around the edge of the glass/metal, which ever it is. Then close it fully and see if there are any tiny gaps. Does it leak water ? Red.

How do i clean my pajero su roof it keeps on leaking And i think its coz of dirt

You can buy rubber conditioner that helps with the seals, open the roof and you need to get in there and clean all around the opening and the edge of the glass, it's a but tricky to get to some bits but worth a try, also the drain channels can get blocked.

Rain comes in and sloshes around the floor in right back seat area. Not sure if it is from after-factory installed sun roof, windshield, or rear window. I've heard that there is a product you can shoot...

Often just like a roof leak in a house, you have to look into the places you wouldnt think of. Could be a leak from the sun roof going down the inside of the roof and down the side to the floor. Does the hatch have a leak in the seal? Sometimes you can have a drain plug up that will let the car pool up. Does the sunroof have a catch pan and drain tubes. My prelude (factory sun roof) had plugged drains and leaked. If you find that you have a leaky Window, DONT USE SILICONE!!! The acids in the silicone will blister your paint and make your car rust. If the rubber (Im assuming that you or someone reading this may have some rubber seals on their car) is pliable enough they make a glass seal that is to seal the glass to the rubber.

Hope this helps some... Dale

Air leakage coming from moon roof. is there an adjustment for seal around glass, there is no water leaking in just wind whistling continually.

The glass frame is adjustable. Sometimes these types of leaks can be fixed with adjustment and sometimes it requires that the seals be replaced. Take a look at the pictures below. If your sun roof looks like it is pretty well centered when it is closed, then you probably need to replace the seals. If it is off-center, then it can probably be adjusted to fix your leak.

Water on floor behind driver's side?

Your driver's side heater core most likely has a hole in it, or in the rubber lines, or you've got a horrible weatherstripping set.

I have a 2002 Dodge Neon, 4 cyl, automatic. Water is leaking into the trunk and under back passenger seats. Is this only from tail lights as suggested online?

I would check the trunk seal first.

1. Thoroughly clean the seal and the surface it touches with windex.

2. Apply a semi thin layer of grease to the seal, you don't want alot just enough to transfer to the other surface when you close the trunk.

3. Close trunk completely and then reopen and examine the grease pattern on the surface it touches.

If there is a break or a messy spot (smear) in the pattern that is where the water might be leaking on from.

There is a water leak somewhere in my 98 toyota camry that leaks into my passenger side floor. There is no sun roof and no visible leaks from the windows or doors. Any thoughts? A/C leak maybe? water...

I am the original owner of camry xle 1998 with wet floors. In 2000 I had drivers side door seal leaking at welt. Removed old door seal and new weather strip on drivers side installed. The door panel was never wet, but wet at bottom of door where there are drain holes...slowly leaking under carpet.
In 2001 later water again. Coming from overflowing A/C evaporator-drain plugged/ tank full of debris. Removed evaporator, cleaned + drain cleaned.
In 2003, driver door seal against window rotted. Removed door panel and found leak at window belt molding at the mirror joint inside + out. Lots of mold under carpet needed to replace! Made a fuss at dealers for reacurring problem and they replaced the carpet for free.
