TURN SIGNALS WORK WHEN THEY WANT

  • edean923 Oct 22, 2008

when my turn signals decide not to work, I get them to work by turning on and off the emergency flashers. Does this "fix" yours as well? and where is there a signal relay? I heard from somebody you have to replace the entire lever, and that there is not a relay. Any ideas?

same thing happened, the part is $25 it is called the hazzard flasher module and it is attached to your hazzard button right above your radio. take off that trim and you have access to it. I paid $90 to fix it at a garage and learned what it was after. i say a 20 minute fix tops

I had the same problem- turn signals only worked part of the time and the hazard lights would come on when I pushed the button but the clicking noise wouldn't stop regardless of if I had the button pushed or not. My mechanic thought it was the hazard button and replaced but turns out it was one of the wires behind the steering wheel or in the steering wheel and he put in a new wire and the hand shifty things that control the lights and the windshield wipers and I have not heard the noise sense!

It may be a flasher or the signal(multifunction) switch.

Turn signals NOT working

You might try replacing the actual flasher unit/relays themselves, just in case. Check all the bulbs, but if that ends up okay, it may be worth a shot to fix that buggared switch. Some manufacturors do run the signals through the flashers, I believe.

Turn right signal on and the flashers come on, sporadically

The combo turn signal/lights/cruise stalk (and anything else on there) is probably bad or rapidly headed that way. Not a cheap fix.

91 toyota corolla left turn signal stays lit up al the time. Right turn signal working okay. Bulbs for left ok. where is the turn signal flasher located for this model or is it not the flasher,s problem....

If the right side signals are working properly and you can hear the signal flasher clicking when the right side signals are selected, the flasher is not the problem. Its more likely you have a short to ground in the left side wiring somewhere.

Directional signals screwed up, but my 4 way flashers work.

For this modle and year the turn signal flasher should be mounted in a clip on the right side of the steering column support bracket. The hazard flasher is located under the instrument panel in the module block, on the right side.
Hope this helps,

Turn signal flasher cant find it in car

I found it today.
It's way up under the dash to the right (looking from below) of the steering column. Mine was hidden by a bundle of wires. It is attached to the bottom a white part. (Maybe the fusebox.} You have to push hard towards the rear of the car and it will slide off.. I disconnected it from the socket first, it is held on by a clip.

Where do I install the electronic flasher relay for the turn signals?

If the turn lights come on and don't flash, like mine did, I found the flasher behind the ashtray. If you can't reach it,there are only 4 screws holding the bracket (1/4 in.nut driver) that holds the ashtray.
