Question about 1989 Honda Accord 4 Door

89 Accord tail lights and dash lights don't work

I have an 89 Accord LX, and recently the tail lights have been blowing one of the two fuses that they are assigned. This also takes out the dash lights, and I can't seem to find the problem. I have tried looking at the wiring a little, especially farther down the car, and checked the battery terminals, which were fine. The only thing I can think of is the dash lights control unit, but I'm not sure where the main box for that is in the car. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

99 honda accord no dash or tail lights

look for a "small light" fuse in the fuse box under your hood.
You probably shorted something while installing the radio. If it continues to blow the fuse, you need to pull the radio out and check your wiring.

Parking lamps and tail lamps blows fuse, dash lights don't work

First thing I would check is all frame grounds... like the negative battery cable and the grounding strap on the passenger side motor Mount to the wheel hub. In any electrical system, lights draw more current than anything (except the battery) when you turn them on... Check the grounds!

No tail lights

no (park -tail-running lights) is dash parking lamps glowing?
check the tail fuse yet?
94 accord
this circuit is huge, park/tail, up to 20 lamps. are all dead>?
front park, side park, tail park and dash lamps all out.
this i the red-blk feed. all comments , USA, as lighting varies by country. (laws)
license plate light dead too????????? that too is park
there is NO RELAY.
the fuse 32 feeds the HL (head light) switch and in PARK posistion
it feeds 12vdc raw power to all 38 lamps. (side corning lamps, etc)
the license plate lamp is key, there are 2 lamps.
and both probably are not out.
so if they are good lamps and both tail lamps are good and fuse
then they must glow, if one lamp shorts as 1156 or the like love to do
then it blows the fuse. as does the trailer jack (option) .

so fuse 32 park/tail blown
or HL park switch bad, if all 20 odd lamps dead. and fuse holds.
that simple, and this cars wiring is very simple and nice.

make sure the stero ground isn't hooked to a tail light wire,if the lights are off the wire will appear to be a ground.

I have a 1994 Honda Accord LX I am having problems in a few different areas. My Tail lights will not work, however my brake lights are fine. Ive had several guys look at it and check the fuses, bulbs, and...

the dash lights and the taillights are on the same circuit, so it is either a fuse or the switch, otherwise have someone look for a bad ground to the taillights

89 mustang lx ( My dash lights stay on for approx 2 minutes before the 5 amp fuse pops) Any idea ?

you have another circuit piggybackin on the dash lights, my guess is a bad ground to the parking or tail lights, try unplugging the tail lights and front marker lights. if the fuse satys good you have it

I have 89 jeep cherokee the lights turn on except for the tail lights. Then it blows the 30 amp fuse for the gauges. But the lights still work. Except for the tail lights. Do you think is the switch...

sounds more like a short (joined) circuit, probably at the tail lights since they never work. look for melted or damaged wires back there. had any work done back there recently (maybe for towing lights?)

Dash lights and tail lights not working after accident!

If it is just the dash and the tail lights then the small light fuse under the hood right side must be blowing.  There must be a short somewhere.  I had this problem recently.  you need to look for the short in some odd places.  there is a known defect in the sunvisors that can pinch wires and short this fuse.  In my case the car stereo had a stray wire that was the problem. I think its the #15 fuse under the hood

Tail light mounted of '89 Accord fails to work

Have not got a diagram, but-
Measure the voltage at the tail lamp :-
if no voltage is present, check the parklight feed circuit for blown fuse/faulty relay or other open circuit connection;
if +12v is present, check for missing earth connection at the lamp socket.
