How hard is it to change the starter? Can it be done with standard tools and one the ground without ramps? Thanks.

Since the motor is located at a lower point in the engine it will require that you JACK up the vehicle so that you can access the starter motor. It is important that you must be able to work in such postion with the tools to remove the two bolts that are bolted on the starter. You will need socket spanners/ box tools to remove the bolts.

Won't start, makes click sound when key is turned. Lights work, new battery in october.

hi this will be the starter motor, to test it, locate the starter motor, using either a long bar, or a tool that you can tap it with, tap the starter a few times, at the same time have someone turning the key in the ignition to run while you do this, it might just be stuck, if it turns over successfully after this a few times, it was a stuck solenoid and the starter may need changing but if it does not, the starter itself is u/s and needs changing anyway...hope this helps, just a bit of advise, when doing the above, make sure you are not near any moving parts when/if it starts up you could hurt yourself so be careful, you try this at your own risk...thanks

I just put a new battery in my car and got the alternator checked but my battery is still getting drained, whats going on

Do you mean the battery is draining overnight, and needs jump started? On your Olds, if this is the case...the starter has to be draining the battery...most likely a short...is it the original starter? Changing the starter on your Olds is not a big deal...:) Nice Car, if your Cutlass has gauges...(including Volts/Battery) the signal should show...toward charge when driving...The starter short is hard to confirm.

How to remove a 1989 nissan 300zx starter

Changing StarterIts easy, jack the car up, secure the car with in the up position do not just rely on the jack to hold it up and you will see the starter on the passenger side of the car, its held on with 2 bolts. Disconnect the battery first, then loosen and remove the 2 bolts holding the starter in place. Slide the starter out, disconnect the wires coming from the battery. Reverse the procedure to replace the starter.

I'm trying to remove my starter off my 2000 ford expidetion,

You will need some tools that will give you enough reach to go over the top of the starter, and more than likely a swivel joint to get enough access to remove the bolts. They are usually hard to get too. Patience is required as are some very contorted positions sometimes along with the correct tools to gain access to the bolts.

no special tools needed use a 1/2 inch or a 9/16 wrench for bolts but rule # 1 before you work on any electrical parts on your truck is to disconnect the negative terminal on the battery then take the starter off you 2 blots holding the starter to the engine take them off they maybe a little tight you my have use a little muscle once you take them out pull out the starter then you have to unscrew the cables use the same procedure to install I hope this information is of use GOOD LUCK
