2001 Chevy impala starting but stalls out quickly

Try unplugging the MAF sensor. It is located on the top of the throttle body. It should have a three wire connector. If the car now starts and runs than I would suspect a bad MAF. typically the MAF and the connector are replaced at the same time.

I did try unhooking the egr valve tube to see if relieving pressure that way would make a difference , but it still had lack of powerupon acceleration in my 2001 chevy impala

that hole is not big enough to relieve the back pressure if your catalytic convertor is restricted.the best way to tell is by using a backpressure gauge installed where the front oxygen sensor is located.pressure should be under 1-2 psi under heavy acceleration. The front oxygen sensor is in the exhaust manifold on the back side of the engine.

Does a 2001 chevy impala come with a map sensor or just a mass air flow sensor ?

They have both. If you have a 3.1/3.4L, the map sensor is located at the rear of the engine compartment directly beside the ignition coils. If you have a 3.8L, I believe it is located at the front of the engine (right side of engine bay).

Where is the engine coolant temperature sensor or ECT on a 2003 3.4 leter chevy impala

Follow the upper radiator hose to the engine. Right where it goes to the engine (thermostat housing) there should be a brass screw-in sensor with 2 wires coming from it. Thats it.

2003 Chevy Impala, running hot. Changed fan shroud because cooling fan wouldn't turn on, switched out fan relays, no check engine light. Cooling fan still will not turn on.

Would turn the key on no need to start it and unplug the ect engine coolant temp sensor. If fans come on then suspect a faulty etc which may not turn on the engine light. Which engine is in the vehicle so I can help locate the ect which is usually by the thermostat housing.
