Have you tested the ECT sensor and the MAF for proper signal return value, these will no set a code most times even when they have a problem.

''I have an acura cl 98' 4 cylinder, it stalls out (just dies) when idling or well driving every once in a while 'sporadically'. the car has no lack of performance and I had a diagnostic test done and nothing was wrong or malfunctioning according to it''. ??? some body recommended I change the cam posiyioning sensor ... and another person told me I was leaking oil on a sensor in/behind the distributor .

HMM, ya ont get a code unless ya figure out how to read the morse code values the OB1's use. Hmm sputters, and rough idle can be from poor air circulation, as well fuel delivery.

first air.......inspect and clean your vacuum hoses, cracks and leaks will most notably ruin your day. as well as the performance of your ride. check the seal for your intake hose around the throttle body, then clean the ports in and around your throttle body as well. Bad air supply, poor idle.. follow me..

second is fuel delivery. Your getting your gas, thats evident, but are you getting the required amount. hard to guage unless you disconnect a line and test its pressure. so lets USE the KISS method.. KEEPING IT SIMPLE STUPID

first, check and or replace your fuel pressure regulator...

second, inspect condition of your fuel filter.

thrid, and certianly the last thing, your fuel pump. go in that order. or your gonna seriously annoy yourself when a 5 dollar fix turns into a 3-400 dollar fix.

I have a 92 yj 2.5l 5 speed. it has only after warming up a misfire/rough idle. its fine when its cold and once it warms up and idle comes down it misfires/idles really rough. may be lacking power also. i...

check that the EGR valve is not sticking or has a vacuum leak. This valve will not operate until the engine is warm.

check also the engine coolant temp sensor (ECT). This sensor tells the engine computer that the engine has warmed up, so if it is faulty, it could be sending wrong information to the computer. If the sensor is disconnected, wires to it broken, or faulty in full cold mode, it will tell the computer that the engine is very cold, like -40F. The computer will schedule fuel for cold conditions. This is usually way too much fuel for a warm engine and it will rich misfire, idle rough, and be difficult to start warm.

The ECT has two wires going to it and is dedicated to sending information to the engine computer. It has nothing to do with your dash gauge that shows coolant temp. That sender has only one wire and is dedicated to the coolant temp gauge.
