Help...When accelerating through 60mph my accord suddenly vibrates and shakes through the front drivers side wheel - this vibration is passed through the steering column and pedals. Above approx 65mph this vibration stops. The vibration is not present when braking.
Both front tyres have been balanced but the problem still exists. My car has done 88000 miles
Is this going to be expensive????!!!
My 2003 honda accord was doing this too. The problem is the inner CV axle bearings. The fix is to replace both CV axles. When you choose your CV axle choose a new one not a reman, there are known problems with used CV axles. It's not a hard job. It took me 1hr to do both sides on a lift.
You might to have a tire shop check the wheel for roundness, not balance. A tire can be balanced and be out of round, causing the shaking you describe. On front wheel drive cars, the wheel/hub assembly may be bad, which a good tire shop can tell you if it is. Can't say if it will be expensive, the hub is relatively inexpensive. Labor will probably be the deal-breaker.
Did you find a solution for this problem? My car is having the exact problem at this moment. The Honda dealer said it was the front axles, but my personal mechanic he said it was the transmission. I dont know what to do at this point. Please advise. Thank you!
You might have to check the hub on which the engine is resting. It happened to me once on my toyota camry and it was found that hub was broken.
