Question about 2002 Pontiac Montana

1 Answer

Message Centre Light

Ok, I need help. In the message centre on my 2002 Pontiac Montana I am seeing a picture I've never seen before and its not in the manual. Its red and fills the whole message centre (its circular with a jagged line going through the bottom third of it and then the whole picture is bracketed). Above, in the information centre the brake light and parking light also comes on. It appeared then went off and returned about 5 mins later and remained on.

Can anyone help? I'm afraid to drive it.......

The same problem just started this week with my 2002 Pontiac Montana. I checked the coolant level and it was fine.

I'm sure it's a brake problem. I was behind a bus who stopped at a train crossing on a 100 km hwy. I applied my brakes hard and that strange looking symbol came up. It was also -40 C outside. I was thinking either the brakes or gas frozen. It went out a few minutes later

This has happened to me as well, only when it is extremely cold outside, once the temp has warmed up it shuts off, I'm not too worried about it, I just would like to know what it is

Not what light you are referring to. Hard to picture it. does sound like a brake system warning. Be sure to check the brake fluid reservoir, it may be low on fluid.

How to reset the computer on a 2002 pontiac montana

Which computer are you wanting to reset? There are at least 5 on your vehicle. The next question is WHY do you want to reset it? Are you trying to clear fault codes or are you wanting to clear adaptive learning stategies? or BOTH? Are you having a problem with warning lights coming on? If so, have the problems been corrected that CAUSED the lights to come on?

Anyway, a scan tool is required to reset ANY of the computers on your vehicle.

Oil Light is on need to Reset it. Don't have manaual.

Do you mean the "Oil" light or the "Oil Life System" light?
If the oil light is on, you need to stop operating the engine and have it checked to find out why the light is telling you that there is no oil pressure.

If you mean the Oil Life light, Then here are the instructions:

How to Reset the CHANGE ENGINE OIL Message

1. With the ignition key in RUN but the engine off,

fully push and release the accelerator pedal slowly

three times within five seconds.

2. Turn the key to OFF.

If the CHANGE ENGINE OIL message comes

back on, the engine oil life monitor has not reset.
Repeat the procedure.

I need to replace the thermostat on a 2002 pontiac montana. I have a Haynes repair manual for 2001 pontiac montana with picture location of thermostat housing but I cannot visually find it even using a...

Where the upper radiator hose connects to the engine you will find the thermostat under that housing. You must drain the radiator and remove the upper hose. Then remove the 2 bolts holding the housing in place. Make sure to pay attention to which way the thermostat is mounted, spring up or spring down.
