Have you checked the fuel pump relay and fuse? That lives in the relay/fuse panel under the radio, behind the ash tray. I always carry a spare relay and fuse. The pump might have taken out both of these, The fuel pump relay is located in the third row, toward the firewall, next to the last relay on the right. The first in that row is a big relay for the headlights. The fulk pump relay is located between that and the one on the right. There are only three relays in the last row.

I just re-checked my diagrams for the 740. the fuel pump relay is the big white one, second row, first on the left. Sorry, I was looking at the 760 diagram. Be sure to rplace with the same number. About $10 on Ebay.

On my 1991 volvo 740 regina model, the fuel pump was changed, the relay was changed and found the #11 fuse wire to be dead. I also have checked diagrams and cannot locate the fusible link. Anyone know where it is?

Driving my 91 volvo 740 and it will stall then wait acouple of min. starts right up why

In my experience this has been one of two things. The first and most common is a faulty fuel pump relay. (located above the fuse panel behind the ashtray) or a short somewhere in the coil/ignition system.

My 91 volvo 740 won't start

Could be that there is a clog at the tank-there is a screen there- can be accessed through access panel behind rear seat- also try taking off fuel line at engine and starting engine--if there is fuel present then I would rule out the tank screen problem. Good luck--let me know if that helps. C

Volvo 740(1990) i replaced my coil and change the battery, it started, then went 50 yards the it died and now it just turns over, but won`t start, is there anything else it could be? thanks

Many things can cause this on your 740. Fuel pump, fuel pump relay, rpm sensor, MAF sensor, radio suppression relay. I've never seen the coil fail on these era Volvo's, ever. And I've diagnosed at least 50 of these with stalling problems. Check the codes, and when it wont start, check for spark and fuel pressure, you're likely missing one of them.
