2000 Beetle 2.0 gas engine

I have a 2000 beetle with 50k on it. it is starting to run sluggish(sputtering sometimes), had the codes read at autozone and they suggested 3 different things. Engine Coolant temp. sensor, Oxygen sensor, or Control Fuel Air Matching sensor. which or all should i replace? or is their perhaps another simpilar fix?

thanks
Mike

2000 VW BEETLE DIES WHEN COMING TO A STOP

you might have bad gas when it sits for months the gas will separate. best to do is run all the gas out of it till it stops running. have a 2 gallon or 5 gallon gas can with you and fill it up when it finally stops. the other thing you can look for is a rust ground. I had this problem with a saab 9-3 took me months to figure it out. the battery and alternator you can go to any local parts store and have them test the charging system to see if there is any problems

2000 beetle , bucks , stutters , acts like it's running out of gas

So many possibilities. But I would look for arcing on the coil packs. Use dialectic paste on all the plug wire connections. Arcing is easiest to see at night.
If it is the purge valve, then opening the gas cap to relieve vacuum will temporarily make it run better.
Look for vacuum leaks.
Temporarily pinch off hoses to see if they are the source of a leak.
Try putting gas dryer in the tank, in case there is water.

Hi, the MIL (engine check light) will only go out when the car has had 50 drive cycles - start, run to normal operating temperature and stop, without further faults. A normal EOBD code reader such as you used to check for the fault originally should also be able to cancel the fault and put the light out. If the code won't clear, suspect a faulty ignition coil. Which is a common fault on these vehicles.
Hope that helps Matt...

Sometimes bad gas can make your O2 sensor give a false reading.Try a tank of super unleaded from a reputable gas station and some Berryman Chemtool fuel injection cleaner from Autozone

I had the same problem on my 2000 beetle and I had to change the water pump . Once you change the water pump you have to change the timing belt because the water pump is run by the timing belt .
you could know if it is the water pump by checking the hose that comes from the radiator to the enging to se if there is water running to the engine .

It could be anything. You have to have the ECU scanned for codes to be able to start troubleshooting. Go to a dealer and it'll run you $60-80. Go to AutoZone and it's free. Get the codes and post them here as a reply and we can take it from there.
