Question about 1996 Nissan 240SX

1996 Nissan 240SX

I was going down the highway coming home from work, and all of a sudden I lost all power in my car. The car will not turn over or none of the ACC. works in the car. The horn blows, head lights and dome lights work fine. All electrical parts work fine inside the car, it is just my radio, lighter that does not work. The car will not turn over and no dash lights are working.

Had very similar problem. If your ignition fuse under the hood is blown, (30 amp fuse), then here's something to check. It was my problem and I fixed it and have had no troubles since. Ok, stand in front of car with hood up. Looking at the engine, just to the left of the front left corner (corner of engine closest to the fuse box) there is a wire harness that rubs against this corner of the engine block. Mine had rubbed through the plastic housing of that harness, through two wire insulations (both wires were black with red spots or something like that but there were alot of wires in the bundle--had to look at all of them to confirm no others were worn through) of the two wires that go to the ignition system and waa laa shorted straight to the engine block which is ground. I picked up on this tip that wires get worn thru at this spot via the internet. Anyway, using electrical tape and such and using tie wraps to pull the harness up away from the engine block, this fixed the problem. It took awhile even after the internet tip cuz it is just that way working on cars. I had blown several fuses befor getting a 'resettable' 30 amp fuse and hooking it up....I thought the problem was in the ignition switch in the steering column...it wasn't...All that to say, I tried a lot of things before finding the tip on the internet of where the short could be. I took pics and such. If you'd like me to post pics let me know.

If your alt goes out its only your battery powering the car and it will die fast and with out and power your car will die in mid drive

your starter only starts the car, in reality you dont need a starter you can push start cars take sprint cars for exapmle the motors are so big they dont have room for starters so they have trucks push them and then they start the car by turning hte key while in motion. your battery sends a load to your alt and once your alt is running it powers everyhting and recharges your battery but if your alt goes out it cant run everything and your battery cant take the loads for long so your car just dies. I would not suspect the fuse unless there was a serg sent though your electrical system at one point, now there is a possiblity that it just went bad. I wish i could help you more but first i would go and have your battery slow charged and then try starting it if it does not start then your fuse is blown but it if does it will last long enough on a full charge to get you to an autoparts stare depending on how far away it is. once you are there have them run a test on your charging system it will test your battery alt starter and eveything

How to fix P1760 code on 1996 Nissan 240sx

p1760 is Overrun Clutch Solenoid Valve. Harness or connector, ( the solinoid curcuit is open or shorted ) or the override solinoid clutch is bad. God-Bless! call the dealer on a fix for this. They may be able to give you a readout of how to fix.

How do you take the key out of the ignition on a 1996 nissan 240sx se dont know how to take key out just got the car

If it's a manual gear box, there is a button on the steering colomn. Press it while turning the key backwards and the ignition should roll back into the steering lock position. If this was at all helpful, please rate. Thanks for asking.

1995 Nissan 240sx will not keep running.

hi

you need to replace your battery.since the alternator is supposed t o charge the battery. y dont you start your vehicle, have it run for 1 hour or go on an hours drive, come back home, turn it off, after five minutes start the vehicle..see if it starts.if it does not, that means your battery is dead.

hope this helps
