There should be a screw on the back side of the headlight assembly that rotates the lights up and down. Sometimes they have a hex head, but with the hood open you should be able to see them hooked onto the light assembly.
pop hood..there is a star screw about 5 inches long on each side turn it counterclockwise to uninstall the headlight assembly. you may have to remove the grill piece 4 screws then remove turn signal assembly 1 screw on outside edge of van.once headlight assy removed turn headlight 1/4 turn to get to the head lamp bulb. install in reverse order
To remove the front head light please follow the steps below:
Place the Ford Ranger in "Park." Turn the engine off. Turn the headlights off. Remove the key from the ignition. Allow the truck to cool for about 20 minutes.
Open the hood of the vehicle. Locate the two retainer pins on the headlight assembly of the light that needs to be replaced. Pry the retainer pins open with your finger. This releases the headlight assembly from the Ranger.
Pull the headlight assembly forward. Unplug the electrical connector from the back of the assembly by hand. Rotate the retaining ring counterclockwise and slide it off the plastic bulb base.
Pull the burned out bulb straight out of the headlight assembly. Discard the used bulb. Insert a replacement bulb into the headlight assembly and push it straight into the socket until it clicks into place. Slide the retaining ring around the bulb and rotate it clockwise to secure it.
Plug the electrical connector into the back of the unit. Slide the headlight assembly back into the Ranger. Push the retaining pins back down to secure the headlight assembly.
There is a little aluminum stick in the assembly holding it in. On the top of the headlight twist the stick and remove it. It will look like a tent stake. Remove this stick and then the head light assembly will almost fall out.
First take out a 1/2 inch socket, 5/16 wrench and remove the
battery. Hidden by the battery is a horn which is removed by removing
the 1/2 inch screw. Now you have access to both the left and right low
You need access to both because the other headlamp is
about ready to burn out.
Next, take the largest screw driver in your box and use it to
lift the tabs on the headlamp connector. Use a shop light or
flashlight to see, but the tabs lift from the top. Gently wiggle the
connector downward until it releases.
AFTER disconnecting the connector, the bulb assembly should
turn counter clockwise a full 40 degrees and stop. After rotating the
assembly, pull/wiggle the bulb assembly straight back from the light
Buy a pair of bulb assemblies and reverse process.
Upside down L shaped bracket that is bolted to frame just behind headlight assy. Unbolt bracket, lift bracket straight up to unlock headlight assy. Headlight assy should easlier fall forward to replace any of the 3 bulbs
it is a very easy diy job. all you have to do is take the grill off by removing the signal lights and taking 5 to 6 screws out of the grill. pull the grill out of the way making sure to unhook the marker light wires. then on your headlight assemblies, unscrew the four 10millimeter screws on each then pull the assy. away and unhook your wires. install is the reverse of removal, its really easy. good luck
