How do you repair

DTC P1744 means that the PCM has detected excessive slip in the TC. Refer to the section in the WSM (WorkShop Manual) that is applicable for your transmission for diagnosis.

Usually it means that the TC hasn't been getting enough hydraulic pressure in the TC apply circuit to lock it and it slips. When it slips, the clutch surface in the TC is usually ruined. You'll need to have the hydraulic concern repaired first, then replace the TC.

Frayed wires.
Corrosion on TP sensor, PCM or harness connectors.
VREF harness opens or shorts.
Damaged TP sensor.
Damaged PCM.

Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P1120 indicates the TP signal is within the Self-Test range but below the closed throttle position range of 3.43% to 9.80% (0.17 to 0.49 volt).

Note: Throttle Position Sensor A (TP-A) is the same as Throttle Position (TP) Sensor.

Possible causes:
Perform a complete visual inspection of the harness connector at the TP sensor (including pins) for corrosion.
Perform a complete visual inspection of the harness wires between the TP sensor and the PCM for insulation fraying and corrosion.

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

2003 ford windstar has DTC codes, engine light flashing, and it sounds like the engine is going to rattle apart!

Hi Patrice: first shut off engine (could damage other components) and scanned the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) to know exactly what fault code is stored there ans causing engine light turn on. With this code number could send other details.

Some Autozone or Autoshop with OBD scanner readers make this job for free.

Hope this helps, keep us updated and just keep in mind that your feedback is important and I'll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

I have a 2000 focus with a p1120 code what can I do to start this repair.

Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P1120 indicates that the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) closed throttle position is below the range of 3.4 percent (0.17 volts). Possible causes for this DTC are:

· Damaged wiring harness or connectors

· Open or shorted Reference Voltage (VREF) circuit

· Faulty TPS

· Faulty Powertrain Control Module (PCM)

The methods/steps for diagnosing this code depend on how the code was stored and retrieved.

This code can be a Key On Engine Off (KOEO), Key On Engine Running (KOER), or a Continuous Memory code. To properly diagnose the cause of the problem a scanner must be obtained that has the ability to read each of these as well as the capability of reading live engine data from the PCM.

Direct voltage readings should be taken at the TPS connector and compared to the live data at the PCM. This will eliminate the possibility of a faulty PCM. The VREF and Signal Return circuits must be verified between the TPS and the PCM. Also the Sensor Ground circuit must be verified between the TPS connector and battery ground.

Yes my truck is 1998 ford f 150 4.2 an i have code po174

DTC code p0174 means "System too lean (Bank 1)"

Basically this means that an oxygen sensor in bank 2 detected a lean condition (too much oxygen in the exahust). On V6/V8/V10 engines

, Bank 2 is generally the side of the engine that doesn't have cylinder #1.

An Engine Light came on the dashboard of my 2003 Ford Windstar. The code came up saying p0171 (Fuel System too lean.(Cylinder bank 1) What does this mean?

P0171=System Too Lean Bank 1,
not cylinder 1,it means the oxygen sensor on the drivers side exhaust was stuck on lean and set a code.
doesn't mean you need to change the oxygen sensor yet, first clear the code and see if it corrected its self.
