Question about 2002 Chevrolet Impala
My car has 2 problems first one is the dimmer switch , which I had check out and didn;t find anything wrong with it , BUT when you are traveling down the highway at 70 mph, and try to dim the lights they goes out complete so SCARY !!! the second problem is the AC in the summer time there is a smell coming from it , when you start it up it smell so bad and nothing can be done about it , it look like you could fix it to drain better . I have ask the dealer garage about it and they told me to turn the heat on and run it for awhile , which I did and it still has the stink !!!!!!!!!!!! I love a Impala but things like this not sure if I would buy another one ,I had a 2000 and this 2002 same prolems on boths
These are 2 separate issues,
1st you will need to replace the multifunction switch on the steering column.
2nd issue will require that a mold killer be sprayed into the ventalation system of the car, moisture build up there and mold and mildew form, hence the smell, this is best done by a AC shop, they have special chemicals and application devices to kill the bacteria that cause the mold, the smell will come back so if it bothers you are causes health issues then it must be done on a regular basis.
