1 Answer

I have a 2004 trailblazer that does not start on acassion. the batt. is fine and the wires going to the solenoid. i dont know what the exact problem is. wondering if anybody had this problem. another problem i have been haveing is that the gauges will randomly go out(except the rpm and speed gauge). also the transmission slips a lot. when this happens the rpm gauge dies.

Our 2002 trailblazer does the same thing. I now carry a wrench that fits the battery termernal and when I lightly tough it, the darn car starts. It is not the battery as we have replaced it. This is now happening almost everytime I go to drive it. I hope someone out there has the answer. I don't want to take it back to the dealership becasue they never seem to be able to find the problem, they just charge more money.

I have the same problem. When I go to start it (not always but usually) it just clicks as if no contact to battery although lights, radio etc are working. Replaced the battery and it still does it. Have tightened all connections and that doesn't seem to be the problem. Sometimes I just need to open the hood and it will start. Nobody seems to be able to solve the problem.

I have a 2003 that had the same problem, in addition to millions of electrical issues. After about 8 months, I replaced the battery and it's been fine since then. The old battery continually showed full charge.

04 Trailblazer will not start. Replaced fuel pump, still no start. Powered fuel pump with hot wire, makes pressure still no start. Starter relay does not energized. Any sugestions?

Could be a bad starter/solenoid, but more than likely it is the ignition switch. These have been known to fail in various ways. Go to www.trailvoy.com and do a search on "ignition switch", there should be some threads on how to replace the switch.

check your fader option...if that fails, you might have loose wires or need to replace them.

Headlights wont come on, but parking lights work...i dont get it

Was sent in by another poster, just posting his results which fixed mine. Problem was relay $50.00 at GM only.

Check the relay module. 45 or 46. on the engine relay block. you can swap the two they are the same part number, then you will know. Dont start the engine, just check the lights. If it works replace the relay module. You may have to order the part from the parts store. Or go to the dealer to get it.

Starter will not turn over until the batt. cable is disconnected

Sounds to me like there is a short in the starting system that is causing this (or it's wired wrong). Ford starter solenoids are known for problems. The reason the starter will turn after the cable is disconnected is because the circuit (or in this case short circuit) has been broken . I'll bet if you replace the starter solenoid, your problem will be solved. I think it's just "shorting-to-ground". Good Luck!

12 volt supply problem 1987 chevrolet r30

i ran into EXACTLY the same problem on an 86. i kept forkin' around and finally went direct to the starter and bingo it started. to this day it is still working and never happened again. i have absolutely no idea why. by the way--that was almost 2 years ago. might also be corrosion between the battery cable @ the starter, and the wires that go to the waring harness.
