Question about 2005 Jaguar S-Type

1 Answer

Battery Hi, I have a 2005 S type 4.0. My battery goes dead after the car has not been started for 24-36 hours. when I jump it, it starts up right away. I assume I need a new battery. I had the battery checked out at sears and they said it was good. But after drivinging 8 miles to get htere the battery was fully charged. So do you think I should get a new battery or have the electrical system ckecked. The car is 3 1/2 yrs. old. Thanks, Larry

You might need to get your electrical system checked beause may have a short that could be draining the battery while you don't drive. Try to get it checked at more than one place so you can find an accurate answer for your problem.

I have a 2005 Jaguar S Type and want to know if I can jump start the battery like you do other cars?

It can be jumped. Check for remote jump starting posts under the hood. If there are none, then whichever is easier: jump the battery or remove it and charge it up.

How to jump start my 2005 Pontiac Montana?

Using jumper cables :
1. Connect one red clamp to the positive terminal (+) of running car's battery and the other end red clamp to the positive terminal (+) of the dead car's battery .
2. Connect one black clamp to the negative terminal (-) of running car's battery and the other end black clamp to the negative terminal (-) of the dead car's battery.
Basically... (+) to (+)...and... (-) to (-)
3. Crank up the car needing the jump.
4. Once car is jumped and running...remove clamps in reverse order.

Using battery pack: Connect in the same fashion as above.

P-reg 96 escort, my battery is dead after only a few hours however when the car is running (after jump starting it) the immobilisor light comes on for about a minute, then starts to flash every 3 seconds....

Bad Alternator.
After Starting or Jumping your vehicle: Remove the Negative Cable from the Battery.
If the Engine dies or runs really rough it is a bad Alternator.
The Battery Starts the Engine and runs nominal operations. The Alternator runs the Engine after it is Started by the Battery.
If the Engine does not die or runs really rough after removing the Negative Cable, then you have a malfunctioning Battery.

Hi, my 2002 Dodge Dakota has been going dead lately and needs to be jump started. I have already replaced the battery to no avail. It usually goes dead after sitting for a few days. But the max battery...

It could very well be a defective battery, you could have 1 or more bad cells in the battery. A voltage regulator or an alternator. If it isn't one of those then there is something drawing power from somewhere that is causing it to go dead.

This sounds like issues with the electrical system, Needs to be tested, but your desctiption sounds like a battery type of issue. Charging system puts out enough at speed, but at idle, cannot overcome dead battery.

Charge the battery INDEPENDANTLY and FULLY. This takes 4 - 6 hours on a shop charger, longer on a home one. Then load test the battery...the results of that test tell you where to go next.

DO NOT JUST parts replace, too expensive..

Battery goes dead randomly ,other times starts right up

I had the same problem, every 3-4 months the battery was dead. Found to be the computer staying in a self diagnostic mode that was slowly draining the battery.
