You know when you open your door and the chime goes off for a sec or two visversa with your keys in the ignition. well mine doesnt turn off for about five minutes. could it be my door sensor. my keyless lock button doesnt work either. it will unlock but not lock. I pulled the fuze and it wont make the noise but my windows, locks, sunroof, lightswont work with out the fuze. And no where around the door or door jam is there a buttom that could be stuck. think you could help.

I have the same problem as well. None of the interior lights will shut off, everything turns on inside the car WITHOUT the key being in the ignition! None of the chimes will turn off, even for the headlights

I have the same problem and am working on tracking down the solution. I will post when I have a solution

After further investigation, the door switch is the problem here. However. And there is always a however with a VW. The door switch is not in the post and is not accessable. VW actually put the door switch INSIDE the door and attached it directly to the door latch mechanism. You have to pull the inside door panel off to access the latch. Then you have to take the latch off. The switch is riveted to the latch. If you are a do it yourselfer you can find a similar switch from Radio Shack or an electronics place and rig a switch to work. Otherwise, you have to replace the entire latch mechanism. You may want to try and clean the original switch first as that would be the easiest if it works.

Same thing happening with mine. Driver side door light stays on constantly, keyless entry unlocks but doesn't lock, and the beeping when I start it continues for 3 min or so.

    Same thing here.

The fob won't lock but will unlock and do the trunk still.
The chime is on for the first long while when I start the car.

After looking around the net, it's definitely the micro switch that looks for the door to be opened and closed.

Dammit........it looks like a real pain to take apart.

The door latch micro switch is broken and the ecu(car) thinks the door is open. You can remove the latch with a triple square after you remove the door panel.

My wife's minivan had a similiar/related problem....especially on a bumpy gravel road....on off on off on off...AHHHHHHHHHHHH!! (this was both the beeps and the lights....as I said AHAHHHHH!)

I resolved it by figuring out which door was causing the issue....very irritating the flashing interior lights, etc.......the issue is likely that the rubber gasket is worth enough to not push the sensor in completely....

  • locate the sensor on each door....little 1" shaft like area in the door pillar area...pressed in when the door is closed
  • with the engine running, open each door (one at a time) to manually press this switch in ( to identify which door is causing this irritating issue)
  • once the troubled door is located...look to see where it would make contact on the door itself
  • look for a rubber nickel sized plug on the door
  • it is likely worn slightly, or pressed out of shape
  • to resolve my wife's issue, I turned this plug a 1/4 turn or so...to the 'unworn' area
  • this worked really well...although it took a few 1/4 turns to figure out the best fix
  • ultimately it was an irritating fix....but the problem is/was much worse than pulling over every now and a again to 'fix' it...esp. at night (think flashing interior light, beeping..esp. when the kids had just fallen asleep!!!!)
  • P.S....it was a little fiddle process, but once you do it once then, you can fiddle some more
  • long-term, perhaps get another 'plug', but my solution worked really well

My instrument says my drivers door is open when it is not. I can open my car with the remote, but can not lock it. Is it the Comfort Control Module? VW Passat 2001. 2.0L

the problem you are having is the drivers door latch mecanism, i just changed one on a 2002 jetta yesterday, the electronics in the latch get worn out, the only place to get one if from a dealer.

Turn ignition key but won't start..All power on, is it starter?

Can be a Junk Relay, access is limited, but giving the Starter a "crack" with a mallet, often cures the problem temporarily. But check the Battery terminals, and Cable to the Starter solenoid ,first for tightness and security.

VW Jetta alarm malfunction

Go to your local junk or scrapyard and pull them yourself. The dealer charges an average of 90-100 dollars an hour. So a lot of the money they quoted you for was probably for labor

Door Chime Not Working

I have the same year and I completely removed mine. It is of course under the dash in the middle of the truck. Behind the power point. It is not deep in the dash, about where the carpet stops and meets the dash. The harness is gray and about an inch plus wide, it plugs into the chim box which is black and about 3" X 2" X 1/2". just approx.

Hope this helped
