You know when you open your door and the chime goes off for a sec or two visversa with your keys in the ignition. well mine doesnt turn off for about five minutes. could it be my door sensor. my keyless lock button doesnt work either. it will unlock but not lock. I pulled the fuze and it wont make the noise but my windows, locks, sunroof, lightswont work with out the fuze. And no where around the door or door jam is there a buttom that could be stuck. think you could help.

Re: 2001 VW Jetta 2.0
My wife's minivan had a similiar/related problem....especially on a
bumpy gravel road....on off on off on off...AHHHHHHHHHHHH!! (this was
both the beeps and the lights....as I said AHAHHHHH!)
it by figuring out which door was causing the issue....very irritating
the flashing interior lights, etc.......the issue is likely that the
rubber gasket is worth enough to not push the sensor in completely....
locate the sensor on each door....little 1" shaft like area in the door pillar area...pressed in when the door is closed
with the engine running, open each door (one at a
time) to manually press this switch in ( to identify which door is
causing this irritating issue)
once the troubled door is located...look to see where it would make contact on the door itself
look for a rubber nickel sized plug on the door
it is likely worn slightly, or pressed out of shape
to resolve my wife's issue, I turned this plug a 1/4 turn or so...to the 'unworn' area
this worked really well...although it took a few 1/4 turns to figure out the best fix
ultimately it was an irritating fix....but the problem
is/was much worse than pulling over every now and a again to 'fix'
it...esp. at night (think flashing interior light, beeping..esp. when
the kids had just fallen asleep!!!!)
P.S....it was a little fiddle process, but once you do it once then, you can fiddle some more
long-term, perhaps get another 'plug', but my solution worked really well

all vw MUST be reset after battery dies/changed.put key in door,unlock/hold key over 30 secs(windows go down)then lock/hold key over 30 secs(windows go up/sunroof closes)then press unlock button on remote for 30 secs......RESET DONE......(try this for fun....sit in car after turning off engine/remove key, drivers door keypad is still live(until you open door)ALSO when engine is running lower any window and then raise up with fingers in top of door, the window will rollback.(if you do it once it hurts..twice it really hurts..three times it traps your hand in.)ALL THIS is NOT in the handbook.......
Can be a Junk Relay, access is limited, but giving the Starter a "crack" with a mallet, often cures the problem temporarily. But check the Battery terminals, and Cable to the Starter solenoid ,first for tightness and security.
I have the same year and I completely removed mine. It is of course under the dash in the middle of the truck. Behind the power point. It is not deep in the dash, about where the carpet stops and meets the dash. The harness is gray and about an inch plus wide, it plugs into the chim box which is black and about 3" X 2" X 1/2". just approx.
