Question about 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee

2 Answers

Security System 94 Grand Cherokee Laredo took a hit on the driver side door. Then the battery went dead because my son left his parking lights on. He got the battery charged, but can turn off the security system because the door, along with the lock is smashed. The vehicle will start, but the security system is on and won't along the car to stay running, along with the lights flashing and horn a goin'. How does one disable the security system with the driver's side door?

Any time the battery goes dead or is taken out ,when you put it back in ,or recharge it you must do this .rotate the key in the door 3 times ,then do the same in the ignition switch ,car should start.

To disarm or reset the security sytem on a 1994 Jeep GC, place the key in the rear hatch lock while the alarm is sounding, lock and unlock the lock. A;larm will shut off.

I have a 5.2L V8 Jeep Grand Cherokee and i know to reset my security system i actually have to go around to the passenger side door and lock and then unlock it again. Seems fairly odd but that's how i was told it was reset. Give it a go and lemme know!

My 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo wont start, everytime I try to start it, it makes this loud noise like a buzzing sound, and then the security light starts flashing and the brights light starts flashing...

If your battery has not been drained, try unlocking the lift gate or the passenger side door. That should disarm the alarm. You may need to get a jump if you're getting the flashing lights.

Another thing it does is to shut off your fuel pump. If you get it started after trying the above procedure, the issue is definitely your alarm system.

It is armed whenever you normally leave your car (using power locks seems to arm it on my 94 GCL.

There is a permanant disarming procedure on FixYA but it is pretty radical -- you have to find one of the wires that sends the signal to the alarm system from one of your door locks and ground it.
