Headlight issue The issue with my 2001 Chrysler T&C is with the headlights. The van has day-time running lights. With the key in and power on the left front headlight works / right off. Then if you turn the headlight switch on the right comes on left goes out. Help... Kristine

The other issue is the only time both head lamps come on at the same time is half way in between engaging the brite switch on. This only works every other time engaged.

No right headlight in any switch mode except far right setting then left goes out, left remains on in all other settings.

This may be either a defective DRL module or a headlight ground fault.

Can the DRL module just be removed? I don't need the day-time running lights here in florida. thanks again, Kristine

do a meter test on the battery test it with no lights on and no engine running should show 12.5volts. now do the same with engine running should be around 13-14 volts on idle if under 12 volts when engine is running or spikes in power were by keeps jumping up and down on the volts then the alienator is at fault. if all is fine. then you will need to check the earth's one under the battery. check them are good and clean. then there is the light switch and fuse you need to check them. look at the fuse if intacted. test it and at same time flick the fuse see if it stays good. failing all them and nothing wrong there must be a fault with the main line some were and that is going to take some finding. could be any were from the main fuse to each light unit.

Do you have an aftermarket key fob for your vehicle? Often these remote controls are wired into the lights for convenience. This could be the cause of the problem. Some vehicles were also programmed from the factory to have day-time running lights. These are normally controlled from the key position. If so it is possible that you have a bad ignition switch which is not disconnecting the running lights in the off position.

The fuses that protect your headlamp circuits are Fuse Numbers [4] (Left High Beam), [5] (Right High Beam) [6] (Left Low Beam) and [7] (Right Low Beam).
Fuse 4 is a 10 Amp fuse
Fuse 5 is a 10 Amp fuse
Fuse 6 is a 20 Amp fuse
Fuse 7 is a 15 Amp fuse
All are located in the Power Distribution Center in the engine compartment.

The difference between a 1999 Chrysler Town & Country with DRL and WITHOUT DRL is that one has a DRL module and the other does not. The headlmps themselves are wired exactly the same.

To make yours work, you would have to add the DRL module and reprogram your Body Control Module (BCM) to accept the DRL module. Doing it any other way would probably result in the BCM setting fault codes and possibly even causing malfunctions in other non-headlamp-related circuits.

FUSES # 25,30 & 31 IN THE CENTRAL JUNCTION BOX ALL HAVE TO DO WITH THE HEADLIGHTS & THE GROUND FOR THE LIGHTS IS BEHIND THE LEFT HEADLIGHT. THE MULTI FUNCTION SWITCH & THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH ARE ALSO INVOLVED. YOU MIGHT WANT TO LOOK AT THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH UNPLUG & INSPECT FOR LOOSE OR BURNED TERMINALS.
