Question about 1995 Volvo 960

1 Answer

STARTER REMOVAL I bought a starter and was going to replace the old one this last weekend. So I popped the hood, it took a while to find the starter buried under who knows what kind of hoses, wires and what nots. The question is what's the easiest procedure to remove the starter, and should I work from underneath or above the car? I also have a gear position sensor problem with the same question.

Gear position sensor is on pass side of trans behind cat. the wiring runs over top of the trans. This repair needs a lift. shop will prob charge about 3 hrs labor. starter should be done from under car also. both should be done at shop, you will spend forever working on it at home.

I have a 2006 chevy cobalt ss and the several times over the past 3 years I go out to start my car and it will not crank. Pop started it and took it to shop and they found the fuse under hood to starter...

Sounds like your starter solenoid is sticking or the ignition switch to keep the starter engaged rotating the engine. First change out your starter solenoid should solve the problem also the starter may be pulling to many amps and blowing the fuse simply because the starter is bad and is going out. Take the starter off take it to autozone have it amp tested or load tested you may find this is your problem from the beginning..Remember to rate my solution thanks in advance

Replacing a starter

Replacing the starter on a 96 Avalon is incredibly simple. I did it in the parking lot of a store. Just bring your ratchet set and you will be good to go. I took out the old starter, had a friend bring me to autozone and I bought a new one. Its easy to locate, easy to remove and easy to install.

Im trying to change my starter on a 99mits galant

I just replaced mine last weekend.

Disconnect the battery, and make sure the engine is cold when doing this because you will be working underneath the exhaust pipes.
Using 8mm socket remove the bolts holding the small guard separating the starter from the exhaust.
Using a 12mm socket remove the nut on the front (closest to you) part of the cylinoid on top of the starter. Using 14mm socket remove the two bolts holding the starter on to the engine. Take the old starter off, then place the new starter on and following these instructions in reverse order.

It should start right up.
