2004 Ford F250 Superduty Truck Steering problems

2004 Ford F250 Superduty Truck Steering locking up while turning. Steering wheel feels as if there is not power steering, same feeling as when the engine is off.

I have had this same problem after thorough checking it ended up being a bad steering box. after replacing the box it was fine

The horn switch and the air bag and cruise control wiring in the steering wheel go through the clock spring, ford calls it air bag sliding contact. The clock springs have been know to go bad.

Stearing hard to turn right f250 superduty


did you follow all recomened instructions to prime pump and bleed out all air . is fluid bubbling or foaming ? with truck shut off and front wheels off the ground , turn wheel lock to lock 10 plus times in each direction , check fluid level start and do the same with wheels up in air DO NOT HOLD WHEEL HARD AT END OF TURNING LOCK TO LOCK THIS WILL DAMAGE PUMP running it dry will damage pump ,see what changes happen =needs fluid , no change, foaming ,bubbles ? with motor OFF next disconnect return hose from pump NOT hi pressure and you should have flow , turning wheel while checking for flow you will need 2 people , next try starting for just a split second DONT let it run AND CHECKING FLOW ,I just did a dodge 2500 hemi 2 of the pumps right from parts store were NFG I really hope some of this helps you good luck .Woody ps. ford cast iron pumps are the same ones for dodge

2004 ford f250 powerstroke. brake pedal is hard to press at first then goes straight to the floor also power steering quit working at the same time.


Hmm.. Low fluid in the power steering pump, broken belt driving the power steering pump, failed component causing loss of power steering fluid, failed power steering pump.

Check for a broken belt first, check the oil in the pump, look for leakage under the truck.

If the pump is low on fluid you want to put about half the amount in that you're going to need and then start the truck and turn the wheel slowly from stop to stop, each way- spend about ten seconds going from one stop to the other. This will allow any air in the system to be purged out in a controlled fashion, it can really spray if you get a big, compressed bubble of air in the system and release it quickly. Shut the truck off and top the steering pump up, check for leaks.

yeah, more than likely the bearings you should be able to feel the bearings grinding as you turn the wheel. you can buy all the parts and hope you get everything you need or go to a junkyard and buy the whole thing and replace it 5 times faster.

Need door code


The control module for your door locks is located under your dash in the middle just below your radio. You may have to move insulation out of your way and possibly part of the carpet but it is on the firewall on the inside of the truck. Above the hump for transmission on firewall just below the radio. you can get to it by crawling under drivers side and poking your head up there! It will have a white sticker on it with your preprogrammed 5 digit code

Have you looked at your anti lock braking system. It will give a pulsation when it is in use. You may have a problem with it and it is coming on prematurely. Listen when your truck is doing this and you should hear the humming of the antilock system if it is on. Otherwise i would ckeck your ball joints and tie rod ends for wear as this can cause a vibration back thru your braking system as well

2002 ford f250 v10 when making turns in four wheel drive the front end starts poping as you turn. you can feel it in the steering wheel and hear it.


Four wheel drive is designed to drive on grave or mud. You will always have a feeling within the steering wheel and the truck will feel as though it is hopping , this is normal on dry pavement. How ever you shouldn't hear noise this is an indication that your universal joint on your front differential shaft is worn. You should have both changed if you are considering driving it in four wheel drive a lot in the conditions that the vehicle was designed to drive in, slippery, muddy,ect.
